CLK550s redline in 3rd at around 90 mph. Here's C&D test data for an E55, indicates about 93 mph max speed with 6500 rpm redline and 14.3 mph/1000 as indicated in test data.
CLK550s do not go from 30-90 in 2.5 seconds.
So CLK550 was in correct gear, and Einstein, driving the E55 (assuming it actually was one and the quickly-banned OP is on the level, both of whcih aren't safe assumptions; I for one don't trust badblack as far as I can phart given his track record in this forum), started in 3rd, and continues to think this is the proper gear in which to start a race in an E55 at 30 mph.
Case closed. Either the whole thing was staged as a very late April Fool's joke, or the nut behind the wheel needs to be fixed.

maybe he had one of those "freak engines" that happed to slip out of the factory by mistake.
