Horsepower 382 @ 6000 RPM Torque (lb-ft) 391 @ 2800 RPM
M3
Horsepower 414 @ 8300 RPM Torque (lb-ft) 295 @ 3900 RPM
M3 only 295 torque so very possible a win for CLK550
Hp are very close number but look at the torque 96 different.
Here is one example, I got walked by a Camry V6 once ! not because my IC pump problem because I was not paying attention and i didn't punch it. It was like 20mph to 60 so anything is possible in the street. Plus, the performance number are very close.

So many people here are really ridiculous. I only posted a few times with an observation of a short race I had because I have a job, work and a life. I'm not a troll and frankly don't even know another CLK550 owner. If I lost to an M3, hey great! In this case I didn't, but it was super close and I'm sure some(maybe many) would beat my car. If you think I'm a troll, meet up with me in LA and we'll grab a beer. No big deal.

when i had my C43 years ago, i beat plenty of e39 M5's on the highway and rolling. numbers say e39 would kill me but in real world, things are different.

Oh yeah, I'm sure you just killed lots of 400 horse, 3900-ish pound M5s in high speed runs in a 300 horse, 3500 pound-ish C43. Heck, I mean, they were only about a second or so and 8 or 9 mph apart in the 1/4 mile...easy to believe you could stomp one of those things all the way up to 150!!

its very believable a CLK550 can hang with a e92 m3. go to youtube idiot! an e46 m3 can keep up with an e92 M3! forget what expert driver stats say....real world results!

You're right, I don't believe it, chiefly because I have real world experience against C43s and E39 M5s in my old CLK55, and the two weren't even close. Can't drive a six speed? A third gear pull in an M5 from 60 to 110, a decent 3-4 shift, and boom, that'll get him to 146 in fourth; this would wax a C43 by buslengths, no expert driver needed for that.

I am just gonna keep my focus on what i want to do to the car for bullrun(possibly gold rush too) next year and leave all the internet arguments for some other time...

CLK550 is a beast. it can outrun the w209 CLK55...and CLK55 can also keep up with E92 M3's!
