750iL vs. SL 500
One late night on the lonely interstate me and a friend our parents cars out for some fun (I'm 17), my friend's car was a 1998 740iL with the 750iL V-12 in it, and I was in a 1997 SL 500. So we get on the interstate and decide to do this from a rolling start at about 55 mph, we signal each other that we're ready and then go. We both punch it, the BMW shows its V-12 power by taking the lead but the weight catches up to the car too, so I get even with him but somehow he pulls away and end up about 2 CLs away as we decided to stop once one of us got to 110 mph since we were 17 and in $90K that weren't technically ours. I know it seems funny to be racing in mommy and daddy's cars but it was the most fun I've ever had.

hey popeye430..
i raced a 1996 750iL in my dads 2001 740iL (quad exhaust) and fried him from standstill by about 2 car lengths. I guess the V12 get rustier with age!!! But the beast was pulling on me big time when we hit 100 km/h ! :p
i heard that the V12 engine has a system where cylinder operations are activated sequentially during acceleration. I mean like, 8 cylinders work during the first few revs and then the rest kick in after that... or something like that!
Not sure exactly!

Sounds like fun! I've heard that about the V-12 also, and the same goes for the V-12 MB is using now. I've also heard that BMW's engines get rustier a little fatser than others, since they are N/A, but still good engines nonetheless. That 740iL with quad-exhaust sounds nice, do you have a pic? Nice kill, keep it safe.

That's great that you were able to get a sporty look without going aftermarket, and letting the people who know BMW's best deal with it. Those M rims add a nice touch too. Nice car!
