Question (no story) 280hp golf vs c32, supposed result?

Well, my friend has this golf gti 1.8t, 150hp stock.

I raced it yesterday on the highway, 30-70mph, and 40-90mph.
In my Durango R/T, stock.
The first race was a tie, second the durango took the lead after about 70mph. (torque)..

Anyway, he will tune it to 280hp soon, and he has seen this dragtime of a 280hp golf doing 12.6.

I dont want to dissapoint him, but Im very unsure that even with 280hp, the golf will be faster than either my RS4, or my coming C32, especially on the highway.
I mean, stock, it didnt even spank a not very fast, metal container like the R/T, will 130hp do that much??

Have any of you raced a 250hp+ GTI?

At 280 hp it won't do much damage.

Did you say you were going to buy a C32? You should read the thread, "Here's an american car that will put your benzes to shame." I'm sure you'll change your mind and go CTS-V instead

I should say, "here's a benz (E55) that will put ALL your cadillac to shame." I'm sure you will STFU.

Don't come to our benz board and start wars on us, little kid.

word.. C 32 for life!

I doubt a Golf with 280 hp can do much. After all, his front wheels will be screaming for traction..

The gold will have an advantage of much lighter vehicle, still I think it will be a close match, but if you say that he has seen 12.6s in the quarter mile, that's better than any C32 out there, even with renntech mods.

Regardless I'd still bet my money on the C32, especially in the upper end.

I to think that the C32 will be faster, I have another friend with a TT 1.8 that has about 25 000$ of mods on it. He has come below the 13.0, but then he also has about 380-400hp.

At 1/8mile he ran:
TT Roadster 8,319 135,75 1,806
compared to a slk the same day
SLK 32 AMG 8,626 133,73 1,201 (stock)

But then that is with 4wd and 400hp, not fwd and 280hp.
Sure, a bit heavier.

Is there anyone out there that has raced a modded gti?
Or wouldent you bother some revving fool in a golf?

I had one but I don't wanna talk about that. It was such a shame to have something like this After 8 months I gave it back to my dealer... never ever again!

a company called audi perfomance and racing makes a turbo upgrade kit for the golf/gti kit that puts almost 290WHP down on pump gas i know someone with the kit and have seen many surprised looks on the faces of M5 and M3 owners not sure if he has raced any benzes.

to read about the kit for those of you who care: www.goapr.com

The VW Golf R32 has 240hp stock and to be honest. That car is not much faster than the C320, so I can´t imagine a 280hk Golf will do any harm to ya.

I belive he means 280hp engine, otherwise stage 3 wouldent be enought.
And 280hp in his engine, will that kill the C32? I would be surprised, but Im still worried

that 280hp is at the wheels and there are many guys in the vw world putting down way more power than that while yes it is fwd there are many cars in the 12's which im pretty sure would leave an c32 behind. there is on the other hand no dispute that the c32 is a total package but there are a few vw's out there to be aware of.

Got challenged by a 330 hp Golf with AWD.. might be hard one to take... But I doubt the guy is a good driver so I hope I can take him on a twisty road..

2003 C32
My girlfriend is supposed to get that Stage III APR Conversion to her 20th Anniversary GTI; at that point, it will turn in better 1/4 mile times than my C32. I've seen videos of a Stage III run; if the driver learns the transmission and engine setup, they can limit the wheelspin and use the car appropriately.

If you run into a Stage III APR car and don't have at least an E55, you better be on your game or they better be off theirs; it's for real.

I think up to 1/4 mile, the GTI might have a chance, remember the GTI is a MUCH lighter car. After 1/4 mile, C32 should pull away slowly. I had a GTI before, the throttle response on that car is pretty good!
