C55 vs. M3 (E36)
I was stopped at the light and talking on my cell (friend - girl who LOVES M3's, as do I) and the M3 was coming up fast directly behind me, then changes into the farthest right lane (3 lanes total). So we're both stopped and as I'm chatting, I turn the ESP off (ya know, just in case hehehe). I didn't even bother telling Rebecca - my friend about the M3 as I'm thinking to myself, "don't come screaming out, see what he does first and then if it's on, punch it."
That's exactly what happened. Light turned green we both start off normal, then he notices we're neck & neck, then he punches it, gets the jump, then I punch it. Let me tell ya, I've noticed that my car's tires chirp when I punch it. They don't spin out of control but this time they chirped quite a bit, which sounded cool and then I was off. He had maybe half a car length after he punched it btw, then I quickly reel 'em in. I look over at him as I'm passing and he doesn't bother looking at me as he's working his gears (we're at full throttle now) and then he does something, shifted wrong b/c then he drops off quickly (but he didn't brake).
So I now slow down as we're heading up on traffic and he comes up from behind and passes me, then moves into my lane and back into his lane, passing a slower car. There's just enough of a gap, so I do the same and follow him. He starts putting some distance between us until I lay on the gas and again, I quickly reel 'em in with NOOOOO problems. So now I start slowing down, he's still on the gas and then I punch it again and blast past him - just to show him I'm now playing. He gets it and backs off the gas and we both prepare to slow for some more upcoming traffic.
I move into his right lane ahead of him and he moves into the middle lane on my left and then he gets stuck behind a slower truck, so I slow down (now we're in heavier traffic) and as he comes up next to me I nod and he reaches over his passenger seat and gives me a big thumbs up
So it was fun! Oh yeah, the entire time I was still on the phone, so I know this guy saw me working him while I'm chatting on my cell as I'm yelling into the phone to my friend "I'm kicking an M3's *** Rebecca, ha ha!" I was kidding though b/c I know she loves M3's and I explained to her that it was an E36 not an E46 - which would have given me a run for my money.
So my first M3 experience and again, those E36's are pretty fast! I like them! My friend told me she could hear our engines screaming through phone too! :p Then she asked me to buy her an M3
I told her that the new M3 coming out in a year or so will KICK MY **** but I can't wait to match up with an E46. Nick
PS I have to get that K-40 installed or else my **** is gonna be in trouble if I keep this up. Does any other C55 owners' tires chirp when they punch it? In another race, I power braked my car to about 1500rpm and didn't get much wheel spin at all. This time I even felt my back end get a little squirmy on me, nothing big but it felt awesome knowing all that torque was working it's *** off just for me!
good kill, but sorry ur an idiot.
An idiot huh?
So tell me...what's the difference with me driving using one hand on the wheel and using the other hand to hold the phone to my ear and the M3 driving with one hand and shifting with the other hand? I can see cell phones being a distraction when reaching for the phone or especially placing a call but I was already engaged in conversation, so in my opinion, what I was doing required less coordination than what the M3 driver (or any driver with stick shift) was having to do.
You can use more tact BlackSL than name calling can't you? And don't be sorry about it.
Nick
PS Using a cell phone during this time wasn't the best judgment but don't tell me you've never changed the radio station, changed your favorite CD or taken a sip of your favorite Starbucks coffee while driving. The point being, these are all things to distract you causing you to take your eyes off the road. Me talking on the phone didn't require me from taking my eyes off the road.

We can, however, try to minimize the danger to others by keeping our full attention on what we are doing, and by carefully picking and choosing times and places. I doubt that anyone on this forum who routinely races can honestly say that they have never raced and then realized afterwards that it was unreasonably risky. I know I have.
"Idiot" is pretty rough. How about "A little careless?" Living in my glass house, I certainly would not cast the first stone.

Good kill btw. Maybe it was a moded M3 since it seemed pretty quick.
I wont deny that i dont do the things you mentioned, besides drinking in the car.. that's a big nono. But what im implying is that, your "racing" at high speed, there's traffic around you, you're talking on the phone. All these factors add up to a ****tail of disaster. Not only are you dangering your own life, but that of other road users. We had 2 colleagues pass away on tuesday coz the truck driver behind was driving too fast and on the phone. They were crushed between the the truck in front and from the back. One died on the scene and the other died in the hospital.
If you post on the forum about racing and bragging that you were on the phone at the same time, you are open to critisicim and should accept that.
That's all I have to say. Next time just don't race and talk on the phone at the same time. Even if you do use the phone, please consider using a handset free phone attachment.

Excellent points! I do have an ear piece too, which would have definitely been better.

Yeah, I'd say it was 5 - 15mph and then a little chirp. I saw that video you're talking about too, with the chirping, it sounded just like that but right in the beginning.
