Now why did my dad choose the SLK 55 AMG over the Corvette Z06 or C6 (400 hp). Because from over the years American cars use cheaper quailty, there is nothing like the enginering of a Mercedes Benz.
Also just look at the price, if the new corvette was so much better then the price would be $100,000. To all the people with Z06s, pull up in a party at the same time a SL 65 AMG comes in, see who gets more respect, my SLK 55 AMG looks way much better than the corvette.
Get what I am saying, if American cars were as good as Mercedes Benz, then the prices of American cars would be double of what they are, but they are not because they are not made of good quailty.
I like the corvette zo6 especially the 500 hp, but I would rather have the SLK 55 AMG in the long run.

The only current AMGs that have a chassis to match the engine include the SLK55, C55, and the CLK55.
Since you said that "American cars all suck" how does a Duesenberg suck? Explain with facts.
Duesenberg spawned the phrase "It's a Doozy" which means, "something extraordinary."

Did you know that Bentley's current OHV V-8 comes from a GM V-8 from the 1950s?

You must be kidding. I wouldn't say that all american cars 'suck' but generally speaking european cars are far better regarding quality, safety, longetivity, and even performace. But who cares anyway? Americans are the ones that mostly drive and enjoy those great european machines :v

SLK 55 AMG,
One reason that the 97-04 C5 Corvette didn't cost more than it did was because the OHV engine it used costed less to make than an OHC engine. The 5.7l V-8 used in the 97-04 C5 Corvette was used in Holden's automobiles (Holdens are made in Australia and they are owned by GM). They now use the 6.0l LS2 which was introduced in the 2005 C6 Corvette. Using a common engine reduces costs. Holdens and the Corvette C5 and C6 use a similar Tremec 6 speed manual and GM automatic transmission which reduces costs.
Since "American cars all suck" explain how the following cars suck using facts:
2005 Chevrolet Corvette.

The upcoming Z06 which will have an aluminum chassis and dry sump lubrication.

The new Saleen S7 Twin Turbo which will have solid lifters.

The 2005 Cadillac STS.
http://fast-autos.net/cadillac/cadillacsts.html
The 2005 Chrysler 300C SRT-8 which will have forged wheels. The new Chrysler 300 got its front end styling from the 1998 Chrysler Chronos concept.
http://fast-autos.net/chrysler/chryslersrt8.html
The 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT-8. The new Dodge Magnum, the new Dodge Charger, and the new Chrysler 300 share transmissions, engines, interiors, and have a common chassis and other parts which reduces costs.
http://fast-autos.net/dodge/dodgemagnumsrt8.html
The new Chrysler Firepower concept will likely be made if public reaction is good. It shares a chassis with the new Dodge Viper. It has styling cues from the Chrysler Crossfire concept, the ME Four-Twelve concept, the Aston Martin DB9, and the Chronos concept.

American cars from the early 90s and 80s yes i do believe they suck. Even chevy still sucks in certain areas. BUt its companies like ford and chrysler who are trying to change that image of the american car. Ford has decided to go for quality and not qaunity, with the addition of the Ford 500, Mercuy Montego, the new Futura, the new Mustang, new F150, the Ford GT, the new superduty, the new focus, just many other cars coming down the road from ford. I see good things in fords future if they can keep it up, and develop that 4.0 liter v6 they have in the new mustang into maybe 250 or 260 hp application for their other vehicles. Chrysler on the other hand has gone into engines, yet i still feel their interiors are lacking. Have you ever been on the inside of a 300? its feels cheap, for the price you pay. Id still go with a german car over any american car though. Although the new mustang is really good, id have that and a european car.

Also, he knows the effect of driving up to some place in the SLK 55. I know it too and it BEELOOOOOWS away any kind of attention the corvette could ever even hope for.
This kid is smart. I couldn't have put it any better - You pull up to a hot restaurant in So Cal (like where they are used to the flashiest of the flashy cars) in any kind of vette, any kind of MB sedan or old style (think flair and hood design) MB coupe and an 05 SLK 55, and easy money, first attn will go to the SLK 55.
You must understand that in parts of So Cal driving a MB is like driving a chevy - a little better built, but just an everyman's car. The SLK with its 05 hood style and best looking car out there car GORGEOUSNESS transcends this "even the poolman drives a Mercedes" image. In fact, I've pulled up to restaurants and hot spots my entire life in Ferraris and all the rest (including vettes), but I have noticed that this car gets way more attn than any of them ever did - its just so rare, gorgeous and FAAAAAAST looking
