Steering Pump noise: HELP ME!!
The other night i noticed a fairly loud noise under the hood. I located the noise to the power steering pump/pulley. I had a similar problem last year when it got cold.
Am i low on power steering fluid? if so where is the reservor? if not, any ideas on what the noise could be?
Please help me!

Don't you love Benz's, they all have predictable problems.....
I'm have the same issues on my 99 ml320 but never paid any attention to it. If someone knows an answer... that would be great=)

All MB's power steering fluid magically dissappears when it gets cold. I honestly have no explanation for this-usually no visible leaks and its usually too low to assume that its from contraction of the fluid due to temp change. Add fluid and check for leaks. The resevoir is on top of the pump. Its a black plastic tank with a black plastic cap.Good luck.

Out Of Control!!
take off your engine cover and its on the right side by the headlight, you can see it, I also have the noise problem, but mine is coming from a substantial leak, not sure where but I am gathering puddles in my driveway

How hard is it to perform a DIY on one of these..... ?
My PAS pump has been dripping fluid for a while now and sadly its from the front of the pump, not the resevoir. So I fgure it's time for a new pump...

Is this a DIY ? I'm fairly handy with a wrench, but am concerned about getting the right tension back on the belt and purging the PAS pump of air.

Powe steering
The wifes ML350 was just in for service. I had noticed a slight noise that I attributed to power steering although there was no visible leak and the fluid was not low. MB replaced the hose under warranty and said there was a slight leak. We didn't even mention the noise. Since this sounds common I guess they look for it. BTW... Anyone DIY brakes on an ML 350. I've ordered the parts and plan on trying it this week. Looks like I'll need a torx bit. Any other instruction would be great.

Also, I have a leak from one of those circular things with a torx bolt. Do you think this could be an O ring issue?.
