Post Turn Signal (Indicator) Flash double speed

I have a 2002 ML270 CDI - with an intermittent turn (signal) indicator problem. After about 5 minute driving when you indicate to turn (either direction) the turn signal flashes double speed. It is as if a bulb has blown, but all 3 bulbs are working. I have replaced the relays. Has anyone come across something like this before, Thanks.

If you have a towing hook on your ML, and the power for the socket back-there is on, the turn signals gets messed up if nothing is in the socket..

At least it did on my friends ML 270CDI final edition.

Hope it helped... :p

I do have a tow hitch, but I have disconnected the electrical trailer connector from the wiring harness inside the car, but still get intermittent problem, Thanks.

that could be it, I think that some cars do that in order to signal to the operator that a bulb is out, they dont put a lamp out bulb on the dash board so that could be your problem

Are you running LED bulbs anywhere by chance? That will also do it.
