Michelin CrossTerrain

By all reports this seems to be an excellent tire and I need to replace the Connies on my '02 ML320. Ufortunately, they do not come in the MB stock spec of 106 Load and H Speed rated. Has anyone slipped a set of 275/55 17s on their stock (8 x 17) rims? According to the Michelin chart, this should work, just curious for some first-hand data.

Tire Rack says they'll fit. That's what I'm buying next.

Thumbs up Second the recommendation

I'm on my second set of Cross Terrain's too -- latest set went on our 2003 ML500 -- drive great and quiet.

I ended up getting this set at Sam's Club since it worked out the same as tirerack+shipping.

Don't hestitate...

correct size for your rim is 255/60/17. exact match except for speed rating.

Actually the load rating is off too, the 255/60/17s are 105S, tire should be at least 106H, that's why I'm going with the 275/55/17s, they are 109H.

dlafever - did you get the Cross Terrains? Did you get the 275/55? I'm about half way through my stock tires (just passed 18k miles on the car) and will most likely buy the same Cross Terrains discussed here (109H). Just wanted to hear how you like them after a couple of months.

Otto, I did buy the 275/55, 109H cross terrains and they fit/look/feel/perform well above my expectations. They are extremely smooth and quiet and have loads of grip. I have not taken them offroad, but my wife has and commented that she had no problems keeping the vehicle under control when her friend's 4x4 almost bought the farm. I definitely recommend them!

Thanks for responding. I'm sold! I won't be doing any off-roading with them; well, purposely. Maybe trying to beat a hurricane out of here some day. You never know.
