Talking How to install aftermarket radio into my ml?

Anyone here know what I can do to install a new stereo, dvd, deck (aftermarket) into my 2004 ml 350? I've checked on google and yahoo, and there seems to be nothing that shows what I need to do. Please provide links or advice on what I need to do. I don't want to hear about how I shouldn't change from factory to aftermarket, because I've been hearing it where ever I go. Thanks.

Take the truck to a reputable after market Stereo install shop.

any aftermarket radio installation tips, advice, removal of the old, installation of the new, instructions would be great. doesnt matter what the aftermarket radio is, bose, alpine, pioneer, sony,...whatever. How the hell do you take out the old one and put in a new one is all i want to know.

Oh, and thanks for the help pointman....

is your MB a bose radio? For the MCS unit your going to want to get mercedes keys, either via Ebay or the dealer or even from a VW dealership. Go to your closest best buy and pick up a wiring harness and a european antenna adapter and prolly a multiuse pocket.

If its a bose system dont even bother, have it proffesionally done

its easy to install a aftermarket radio, but you cant use a aftermarket radio with your bose system. if you want a radio put in i can do it and change your whole system and amp them up. Im located in Marlboro NJ if your're near.

Oh yeah? My folks live in Holmdel, which is like 20 minutes away. I'm not sure I understand...theres an easy way to install an aftermarket radio, but...its not easy? The radio I want to put in is a sony xplod, the one with the all black face and it flips down to three ovals with the display in the middle (sorry for the ambiguous description, but i forgot the actual number cuz i dont got the box). Anyway, I know I need a wiring harness and whatever, but I think I was most curious about how to remove the old one cuz there are no visible screws or faceplate clips. If you know, please let me know.

can I ask why you would downgrade like that? After being an installer and working the sales floor I can tell you that switching from the MCS module to a Sony Explode is back pedaling.

What are you looking to achieve? And what is your budget? If you want some ideas of what you could do to give you improved sound PM me, if you want to retain the stock appearance check out my sound domain below... I spent a lot of time working on my ML. I could help you out with it...

You seem to know your stuff. I agree its a downgrade, but I just wanted a cd player in the dash so i wouldnt have to keep going into the trunk to change discs. If you have advice about it or even some ideas about putting in a different head unit, i would greatly appreciate it. The head unit i want to put in is one i've had for a couple years in my old car. Anyway, any suggestions or comments are welcome.

By the way, I think you met my brother at last years AMG meet. He's Evil Duffman on this forum.

yeah I did, haha he is helping me get some sponsors for this years event, looks to be even better then last years...

Why not add a CD player to your MCS? You could prolly pick one up on ebay for a couple hundred buck, install it on to the MCS unit and your golden. Im playing with the idea of RE installing my MCS unit after Ive done some mucho mods to it... giving it better and cleaner sound as well as installing an Aux in for an Ipod and a video source...

Art,
I have a 2003 ML350. The radio just stoped working. It lights up after I put the code in, but there is no sound. If I have to get another MCS, can I use an updated one instead? If so what type.

Niecey try this: Courtesy of Maj Dundee

1. key out of ignition.

2. for 1998-2001 ML's, remove fuse #21 in the underhood fuse/relay box.

for 2002-2005 ML's, remove fuses #21 & #40.

3. wait ten seconds and reinsert.

4. then follow the instructions to enter the Radio Code.

As far as I know the pinouts of 2004/2005 are different from 2002/2003.
Any MCS(fiber optic) 2002/2003 will be plug & play.
On the other hand if you are thinking of upgrading why dont you get a aftermarket unit. There are so many which are by far superior then the factory MCS

Hi I have a 2001 ML320, its actually my first car, hand me down gift from my dad who got it three years ago. I wanted to know two things, 1) can I switch out my factory radio for an after market radio and if so which one would it be?
and 2) Would I take it somewhere to get it done?

Hello

My ml320 loses power and runs rough and sometimes will only do about 6 mph, if the ignition is turned off and engine restarted most times runs ok again
when I go up suddenly loses all power and no advances, but turning it off and vorver to light, on occasion I have slowly started pole grasping flight, some ads on google or youtube mentioned it is, some times with a jump feels that something is off and there is again losing all power, mention them to the check engine light was on but then turns off by itself, so we can not get the saner of check the engine, any good idea to solve this?
a bad fuel pump or filter or a clogged catalytic converter are the two things that come to mind, but I dont know I love this car but...........
