Fuel Consumption
I have recently got into an ML 500, 2003 model. The car is fantastic but the fuel consumption seems a little high. I mainly drive it to work early in the morning and pick up some traffic on the way home into the city centre where i live. Rest of my driving is pretty much suburbia with a little traffic. NO extra seats, and pretty much an empty car 99% of the time.
I currently get about 19L/100 km on Shell Optimax which is 98 Octane. Is this normal?
Thanks
Luke
Has anyone successfully converted this vehicle to run on gas?

Had nissan patrol both LPG and petrol. Using LPG towing I was getting half the milage than petrol. Worked out with our ML500 towing we where getting 5.5 kms per litre using petrol and LPG in patrol I was getting 2-2.5 kms per litre with a lot less power. I had also considered LPG only found one other ML on LPG but that was in England and tried to talk to the guy but could never reach him. My thought its not worth LPG even though its about half price the car is getting good Kms per litre. You'll find short trips push the Kms/per litre up but we usually get around the 14.5-16.5 kms/litre city driving and some times get around the 19 mark when doing short trips like going around the 10-20 kms in one trip. Just had the MAS replaced, there is a lot more power now. But shorter the trips higher the Kms/Litre will show up on meter. The ML350 hasn't much difference in Kms/litre. Cliff I wouldn't drive a 270 cdi too slow for a get aways.

after my first one I managed to track the consumption in my ML... I got 462 gallons or something on one tank and had 28 miles left in the tank...
Something is def wrong because an ML55 doesnt get gas mileage like that
