Hi, I took my ml320 into the dealer for cd skipping, they said I needed a new changer. works great ($612.00 later) However, I looked to see when the unit was made. and it says MANUFACTURED IN 1999. Is this ok that a new unit is seven years old, shelf life etc. (my ml is also a 99.)

It's NOS, or New Old Stock. Shelf life shouldn't be an issue. This type of unit should only deteriorate with use, not time. If it was new in the box, you should be good to go. Did the new unit come with a warranty?

Don't hesitate to talk to them and ask them. Cause you should know what you paid for. They should've even gave you an updated model (a new dateed one if they had one).
Just talk to the Mercedes Representative.
