HELP - Can't Remove Rear Calipers on ML320
First, thanks to everyone on this forum for all the great advice about DIY pads/rotors.
I changed the front pads and rotors this morning on my 2000 ML320.
Piece of cake.
However, I can't get the rear calipers off (both sides). The two 13 mm bolts and bushings have been removed and the calipers have some play in them (vs the rotor). I've pushed/pulled in every direction.
I've hit the calipers with a rubber mallet a couple of times.
The rotors do have a "lip" around the outer edge (maybe 1 or 2 mm MAX).
Is that "holding" the pads in and not allowing the calipers to come off????
I'm afraid to bash the calipers with the framing hammer, like the rotors.....
HELP!!!!!
Thanks

Actually, I printed off Pete's directions. They're great
The brake job for a 2000 ML is actually easier.
(No pins on the calipers or through the rotors. 40 Torx for the front and 13 mm bolts on the back calipers.)
I need specific advice as to how to get the back calipers off and what degree of force to use in doing so.

[QUOTE=JimB) Is the pad already out the caliper when you are trying to take the caliper off?[/QUOTE]
JimB:
Both pads are on the caliper.
There's some play/movement in the caliper, but I just can't lift it off the rotor.
Do you think it's possible to force out the outboard pad?
THANKS
