The rear pads of the 430 are very easy to replace. The rotor isn't. The problem is that you have to back off the emergency brake pads. To get to them, you have to stick a screwdriver into the bolt holes on the rotor and loosen the star gear the adjusts the drum brake shoes. I have a picture.
I have used Pagid mostly and they are fine, but dirty. I think dirty is good though, soft pads wear fast but brake well.

I have drilled rotors up front, but wouldn't bother back aft. You don't really need them in either place, but I figure Benz puts them on the high end models, so how bad can it be?

I took this picture with the rotor removed so you can see what you have to do inside the rotor, because you can't see any of this when the rotor is in place.

I'm still wondering what this response has to do with what BeechAssault asked.

Seems to me that BeachAssault was just trying to pass a tip on to JerryML. J stated he had done fronts before, but this time it's the rears. While one could surmise that J is mechanically proficient, B's tip is likely informational for one's first foray into the rear brakes.

Relative to the usability of B's tip, I am speaking from ignorance here as I have had the dealer do my brakes and rotors.

B also stated the brand he uses, so it appears that he gave some good info to J.

Darkmann, you're one of the highly-active contributors here. This doesn't seem like your normal response, particularly if you look at the post counts for these two. BeachAssault is a relative newbie and is enthusiastically contributing to the forum, unlike what you and I have just done.

Dude: That's the most clueless post I've seen in years.

I thought I was BeachAssault, and if you were actually referring to the original post, well I thought I answered the question fairly completely. Perhaps beyond even your mortal comprehension. Grow a clue.

Ok, Beech, so I may have misread the post, offended you, changed your name and even tackled you, and I'm sorry. Who knows, maybe it was all that drinking from new years eve onto new years day. But what's with the insults?

PAds and Rotors

J go with the Pagid and brimbo in the rear that way you will have the same pads and rotors all the way around the car Also don't forget to order the sensor for brake ware. Also, do a google search for an MB parts Wherehouse in Pomona Ca. They have the best prices on MB brake parts. Not to mention they ship the same day and you get them quickly. Hope this helps.
