Help - 2000 ML320 stops, then cranks but does not start anymore
Hello everyone,
I have a 2000 Mercedes ML320 that has a weird problem: it runs for a while, then it stops (randomly, either at idle or while in motion) and then it cranks but does not start anymore unless left for 15-20 minutes...
Here's what I've done so far:
- swapped the gas pump relay with no luck
- took out the fuel filter and blew through it, seems not to be stuck
- flushed out the gas pump by jumping the K3 relay
- now, here's the interesting part - I noticed that after the truck stops, there is no more power at the plug that powers the gas pump. This seems to be the real problem and have no idea why that is. Seems like something is heating up and cutting power... Could it be the relay (again, swapped it with others a couple of times)? The board that it plugs into?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Starting problems
We had the exact same problem on our 99 320.
After much searching, it ended up being the crankshaft position sensor, (or whatever the technical name is).
It only sensed movement intermittently, so did not provide spark and gas.
Changed it out and has run great for 7 years.
