stereo dash kit?
i want to change my stereo in my 2000 ml320 but I cant find a kit to fill in the extra space. can some one lead me there. Is there aslo a wiring harness. Where is the factory amp located?

goto www.crutchfield.com and put in your vehicle/model/year and it should give you a list of stereo parts for your ML (speakers, decks, accessories, etc)

Any 2-DIN size unit with compatible wiring should work - there are a number of options - I've seen MLs with Clarion radios and a bunch of other kinds - just check up on Google. BTW, you'll lose use of the CD-Changer, if you have it, because it's connected to the MCS through MB's fiber-optic audio system.

You should be able to order the storage box that comes with the standard headunits on any ML from your dealer, once you install this box, you will be able to install any standard din stereo. If you have problem identifying part for box, let me know and I will post a picture of my install.

To determine what type of fascia you need, go to eBay, have a look at items such as fascia w163 or fascia kit M class, etc., then narrow it down to your model year. Stick with Connects2, Autoleads, etc.
I used for my 02ML320 retrofit [Kenwood DD 7120] a Kenwood cage & fascia with Metra wireharness adaptors. For my 04E320 [Kenwood DD 8120] I used a Connects2 cage and fascia kit with quick wirring connectors.

My advice is to avoid buying one of the android devices. For example, the one from Avin. I threw $ 500 out the window, after a little over a year the screen went white and their response was that it was out of warranty, they have nothing to do. However, the quality of the audio signal is poor on these devices, as well as the reception of radio programs, so if someone wants to upgrade to think seriously about buying a device made by a reputable company.
