In all my searching, I am very close to making a deal today. Does carfax state if the car was a buy back problem vehicle. What it the best way or any way to tell other than pulling the service history.
Thanks

03 ML350 INSPIRATION
I would be really CAREFUL before you buy any such vehicle. I am in the process of having MB buy back my 03 ML350 Inspiration. It is a true lemon. But because I have not invoked the Lemon law, MB is handling it as an " assisted trade-in". Through this method , they do not have to disclose anything.LET THE BUYER BEWARE.

Thanks for the warning. I did purchase the truck. Before I bought it, I called MB and reviewed the entire service history. It was in fact a dealer loaner with only one minor issue, a faulty door switch.
My only worry is that whomever the many used the vehicle beat the crap out of it. It does not look like that is the case though.
What were your major lemon issues? I do have a couple of concerns with the ride of the vehicle and am curious if all these trucks have the same feel. When driving over a rough road I get a slight knock throught the steering wheel. Almost like a bad strut or bad sway bar link. Do all mls transmit the road vibration like this. Also
when the truck is shifting under moderate to heavy acceleration into second and third, I get a drive line vibration that I can feel through the shifter and a bit through the floor boards. Is this common? I think I'll start a post regarding this for better clarification.
Thanks

03 ML350 INSPIRATION
My truck is being bought back for the following issues: vibration through the steering wheel , shifter knob , seat and accellerator pedal at idle in drive....Has had this problem since new and the dealer raised the idle speed...made the problem worse. Also have had a problem with gross inaccuracy of fuel guage...has been up to 7 to 8 gals off. Replaced the instrument cluster and made matters worse. MB finally admitted there are problems with the instrument cluster and did not have a fix as of this date. Was in the dealer for over 45 days.
I then test drove a ml500 and found that the engine is much more refined. Much less vibration.
I am being upgraded to a ml500 for just the diff in price between a ml350 and ml500. Good luck with your truck

Yikes Rich! Luckily I don't have any at idle vibe. Mine is only during acceleration. Duh, I guess I didn't notice it because the other two mls I test drove were a ml 430 and a ml 500. I liked the 500 the only concern was a nasty brake squeel in the one I drove.
Good luck with your new ride. Keep us posted on how you like it.

PS Did you have nav in your 350. If so, wanna sell it before you trade it in .

Can you post your VIN to help the next guy?

I've read somewhere that the 3.7 liter engine in the ML350 can't be used in regular sedans because of excess vibration. I was waiting to see an E-350 show up but apparently it isn't going to happen. I guess M-B thought it would be OK to use it in a truck....maybe not!
I still can't believe that M-B would go to a 90 degree V6. It shows just how much they have gone the cost cutting route.
