torsion bar

my ml has been making some noises from the torsion bar. i brought it to the attention of my sa. he later let me know that my "support bracket" was broken. it was fine for a few days...but now its back!?! any ideas?

There's a shim between the torsion bar and the frame that wears through and makes creaking noises. Maybe they didn't replace those, or just did one side.

mbtech, yes they said that they only replaced one side...but its possible for the other side to go bad in a matter of days? im just worried that they are going to blame my lowered susspension.

picked up my ml today...noise is gone!!!...for now, hopefully it will stay that way. i told them what you suggested mbtech..heres what they decided to do...

clean and lube all mating surfaces

replace left rear mounting bracket

lube right side mounting bracket

what do you think...was what needed to be done..done? or should i expect to have to go back again...like the last time they supposedly fixed it? thanks

Only you'll be able to answer that. If the noise comes back, it wasn't done right.
