Oil pan removal question

2001 ML55 amg, Need to replace a o ring on the oil level sensor, its leaking oil when engine is running. I was wondering how hard it is to drop the oil pan, do i have to jack up the engine? does dealer sell just the o ring? or should i just find O ring to fit it close, because my sensor is fine. Thanks

Here are the directions to replace the Oil Level Sensor. You can do what you like, but I would replace the sensor with new. If the sensor is faulty two months from now, you must do the repair all over again.

Also know that there is no oil pan gasket, but sealant must be used.

Wow, what a job just to replace a o-ring. That oil pan almost impossible to get out with engine jacked up. Somehow i managed to do the job, just took my time, tried not to make any mistakes. Just hope its not the oil level sensor was leaking itself, i just replaced a o-ring and looks like someone was messing with it before because had some silicone around the sensor. waiting for the gasket to dry and will fill up with oil and see if the job was successful.
