Help...wife left sunroof open...rained all night!
And damn it poured last night!
I was hoping all I needed to do was dry it out. In general it seems to be ok. It starts fine, but, the truck's shift lever won't operate. Is there a lock out that I need to reset somewhere? Or did it just get wet in the consol? Has any one else had this issue? Can I hope it will dry out in the sun and be ok.
It will be fun with the wet vac when I get home.
Any input? Any jokes?
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in.....

I'm guessing the water got into the shifter console...that thing is electronic, so it could have shorted it out (the locking mechanism that releases when you step on the brake)
Try letting it dry out for a few days.
My mother did that with our Audi once...left the sunroof open and in the morning, there were two big puddles of water in the front two seats :p Though, the tranny still worked (mechanical though, not electronic)![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
good luck!

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
easy fix for the shifter. look at the bottom of the shifter selector. right underneath the "D" youll see a empty slot, push down on it with a pen and then shift the lever...it should work fine now.

Dave,
Will the shifter short out pretty easily? Will that come up on a scan if it is toast or is it a replace to see if it is broken situation?
Thanks
PS Do you know the proceedure for headliner removal in a w210 e series? I have a nasty rattle I'm trying to fix.

As far as the headliner, just take everything out that touches the headliner (A, B, and C-pillars, grab handles, sunvisors and clips, overhead control panel, rear dome light). It's hard to walk someone through it without actually being there to show you.

The shifter will short out very easily if any liquid gets into it. People spill drinks in them all the time. If it's shorted out, various fault codes will appear when the laptop is hooked up to it. But it's such a common thing, we know that if liquid got into the shifter, it needs a new one.
