Dare I change from C class to ML270CDI
Is it going to be like a snail compared to my current car. Is it safe acceleration at junctions?
Is it any good?

On the motorway it will happily cruise at 80mph. I recently drove back to the Uk from Switzerland, it was a dream!
If you are worried about the power, I am getting mine chipped. Suppose to increase by 27-30bhp, will let you know what happens!!
You could always take one for a test drive. If you decide it is the car for you (I will buy another one) check out my dad's garage www.griffiths.co.uk he always has a few for sale!!!
Nick.
Go for the 270 - you'll not regret it. But it's two completely different worlds - the C-Class coupe will not mind, rather enjoy, being driven aggressively. The ML will accept it, but it's not really its cup of tea.
I would also strongly recommend getting it chipped. I've had a Carlsson chip in for more than 60,000 of the 96,000 total kilometres, and not only does the engine have extra punch when you need it, it's also very much more economical at "legal" speeds. Keeping the ML at, but not below, REAL 130 km/h and without driving sluggishly, I get between 800 and 900 kilometres on a full tank - impressive, considering the size and weight of the ML.

the 800-900 km range is motorway/long-distance driving, which practically is all that my ML ever sees. It will only be doing short-range or city trips while I'm away on holiday, as I also have a smart which I use for that purpose here.
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure that keeping to UK/US speeds (± 110 km/h) you could better the range even further.
Fuel economy improved immediately after fitting the chip, but not as significantly as after keeping more to the posted limits (a few photos made in your lovely country of residence convinced me of the necessity of this
)Cheers,
Birger
