I was just offered a 3 year/100k extension to my factory warrenty on my 04ML350. What do you guys think about that? Should I? It costs near $2700.

I just paid $2400 for a Daimler Chrysler Warranty which offered 4yrs/60k on top of my current mileage. The protection level is the "added care plus" which also has towing and roadside assistance.

You should definitely get the extended warranty. Any repair you made after your initial 4 year factory warranty will make it worth while.

I took the ml in for the Check Engine light being on for the last month and just found out the bill is $1700. All but $200 for hoses is covered. Since the 2-year warranty was $1700 and has 4 months left, it was worth getting...even for the peace of mind.

Lisa at Courtesy Motors in Chico had some pretty good prices...you should call her.

I am not so sure you will need it on an '04. Only time will tell though, true enough is the tranny or something fails you would easily make out on the deal, but the '03 and up model ML's are fairly bulletproof.

Thanks guys. Good thing I have a year to decide. I'll see how well it does after a few months and have a better idea at that time, I hope.

I recently had a complete transmission failure in my 1999 ML430, about 3,000 miles away from home. I had not bought the extended warranty as I felt that the vehicle at 50~K when the policy was offered, was probably good for at least that much more without significant risk of major component failure. My misconceptions about Z-F and Getrag quality were costly.

It would have been less expensive to buy the extended warranty than to spend 5 days in Toronto obtaining a replacement transmission. And, I would have been spared the lousy attitudes demonstrated by MBUSA when they were contacted from Canada regarding the matter.

Will I buy another Diamler product??? Ouch!

I was quoted a $3300 for a 7 year 100,000 miles on my ML320 2001. Which right now has 30k on it. I am planning to go for it as the years are after the original warranty expires and the miles are cumulative meaning I would get 70k more extended warranty as I already have 30k.
Neat ! Ha!

Wait, but I thought you only had one year from the purchase date to buy the extended coverage? Am I wrong to assume this? Or are you getting that quote from somewhere other than the mercedes warrenty? I was quoted about $2700--but was told it was a little negotiable.

to get the mercedes benz factory extended warranty you must purchase it within one year of purchasing the car NEW.

you can get the daimler chrylser extended anytime before the factory warranty ends.

dont do it. third party warranties are horrible. alot of them do not cover nearly as many things as they say. alot of them end up going bankcrupt loving you out of money and out of warranty. and some of the 3rd party warranties are a pain in the a$$ to use "pay now, get money back later..."

VA Warranty
I am in Tidewater, have an '02 with the extended warranty. My SA told me that you can get the Starmark extension up until the last month or last 1000 miles of original warranty. I would not own this vehicle without it; Too many expensive gremlins out there.
