DVD-Nav Question, Please help...

We finally got a 2005 ML-500 with DVD-Nav. I was wondering is there a mod or a way to make the dvd-nav play regular movie DVD's? Please help...

Thanks

If you want to spend several thousand dollars, there is a company that does this modification. Aftermarket would probably be a better solution in the end.

No - the DVD-Nav unit won't play DVD movies.

If you want to have a video input into the MCS screen, Nav-TV (http://www.nav-tv.com) will do that - for around $1200 - but what you get is just a video input - for audio, you have to use an FM modulator / cassette adapter / etc. And you'd still have to get an aftermarket DVD player and set it up, so it's not really worth it...

Hope this helps

Dvd Playback

You will not be able to play DVDs simply by putting a DVD in the COMAND DVD navigation slot.

However, just yesterday I met a former MB technician who can install a standalone small DVD player in your glove box (or below it) as well as a small device that will allow the DVD player's sound and video to play on your COMAND screen. It was installed in a 2005 ML500 and I worked beautifully. PM me if you want additional info.

Martin-
The North American ML does not have the COMAND system - it has the MCS.

Video is only possible through a firmware/hardware modification such as that from Nav-TV and others, and audio is only possible through something like an FM modulator / cassette adapter / amp connection.

Unlike COMAND, there is no direct A/V input possibility in the MCS.
