Land Rover LR3??

Just saw some pics of this new Land Rover over the weekend. Looks very nice. I seem to remember that Land Rover quality is horrendous?? Will try to test drive Touareg, ML, and the LR3 today and see which I think my wife should get

The LR3 is a real good candidate. But it gets terrible mileage--12mpg! That's like a hummer, except looks better.

12 is in the city. HWY is 18 and it averages about 15 or so. Still not stellar but then my ML doesn't do any better. FYI, the Hummer is less than 10 a gallon (worst on the market....report released a while back).

FYI....took the wifey to look at it yesterday after thinking about getting rid of the ML and going with the LR3 and it is really impressive. And as for maintenance cost, not worried since I will lease it. But, from whata I have heard, much better now that Ford is running the show. Quite the oxymoron isn't it?

Stay away from the LR3 for a year or so. LRs are awful (ask me I owned a Range Rover). If you still want to give one a chance after two to three years, go for it - but BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!

LRs may be awful but the LR3 is totally new. New company (not rover anymore) Owner by Ford with a Jaguar developed platform. Extremely high quality ratings. As for the extended warranty, that doesn't pertain here since I am only going to lease so I can give that sucker back after 3 or 4 years.

We went in yesterday and decide against it. THey wanted $650 for a 4yr/12K lease. NO WAY! I guess they believe the residual is going to suck on this thing at lease end considering the MB and H2 went for less per month and only 3 years! Thanks but no thanks. I'm going to either keep the 2000 ML430 I have or sell it and lease a new one (MB).

that's $31,200 loss in 4 years.... they can go f themselves.

and why are LR's so expensive to being with if they are built like crap! if i wanted to go off-roading, i'll get a Wrangler so i don't feel so bad when i dent a panel when it bumps into a tree or a rock.

It's the grey poupon!! Tell the dealer you do not want the high tea option.
Drops the price at least by 20%

Lr3

I was attracted to the LR3 when I first saw previews of it a few months ago. Very nice design, IMO. But, the heavy weight, poor fuel economy and questionable quality have me seriously in doubt. I have not seen one in the flesh yet, but I have pre-ordered a W164, with the XC90 V8 as a possible backup.

Actually the LR3 is a really nice car but as with any first model year, it will have its fair share of bugs. The 03's and 04's model years of the Discovery is as or no more reliable as the 03' onwards ML's based on my experience, your may differ. Most of the bugs are worked out by now. Gas mileage is not great but who really cares here when one is spending north of 45K for a car.
