Questions regarding putting in a cd changer

Hi guys I found the cd changer prewiring for my 2001 ml430. I want to put in a cd changer becuase I only have cassette. Dont ask why I jus bought truck now. I have the deck with the screen, so is it just plug and play now or do I have to do some wiring. And what changer do you guys recomend. Do I have to go with a Benz one or can I go for another one?

Go for the benz one... I think you have to do some fiber optic reconfiguring to accept the changer.

Np Saturn thanks alot I never knew that you had to do more work to get the cd changer in, I was so happy and thinking that you could jus plug it in . But I guess i'll just get it done from a dealer.

Look on eBay...

I just bought one for my '01 320. Make sure the part # starts with 163, those are Fiber Optic, the ones that start with 420 are not. They plug and play, if there was one before, if not go to the stealer and have them tweek the computer to see it. FYI, the bracket is 100.00 from the "man".

eBay of course....

I bought my CD changer (OEM) on eBay. Not a problem @ all, paid the buy Now price of 239.00 + 15 for shipping. Had to get a bracket from the stealer for 99.00. As I said in my previous post be sure to check the model #'s, so you don't get stuck with the wrong unit for your year ( I still have a non fiber optic unit with bracket for sale 200.00).
