Bad news for GSM Phone
We bought a 2005 G500 and paid for a GSM -T-Mobile compatible phone on August 31, 2004. The word then was that it would be available at the end of September. You know the rest of the story. They still have my money. I have no phone. Here is the most recent message from my salesman:
" I’m so confused about phones right now I won’t claim anything to be correct. This information just reached my desk within the last 15 minutes. Neither the V600 nor the V710 can be used with 2005 G-Class, M-Class, Maybach, and SLR. Yes, I’m expecting a class action suit. Probably aimed at me personally. The Verizon V60s, CDMA, can be used with the 2005 G-Class according to the parts manager. They are available voice activated.

This seems like a replay of the 2004 E Class Command problem. Are there enough people out there would join me in contacting Mercedes Benz to make good on their product line. Did anyone have any luck in getting Mercedes to buy back their vehicles?

PS. My dealer parts department even orders Euro wiring harnesses for me - on a good day that is, if they feel like putting up with the MB parts ordering mess.
Apparently there is a core kit w/ MHI available for everything else other than ML or G-wagon. I'm wondering if the PSE is the same for MHI and non-MHI version with the difference being a multiple handset compatible cradle.

So, there can be a lot of speculation why the M-class and G-class aren't supported, but the reality is everything will work with the G-class (UHI and MHI), but it won't physically fit in the W163 M-class (it works great in the W164, which uses the C-class COMAND).
(We have installed UHI on the W163 M-class for people that want to use the "dash mount" from Peiker.)

G, M, SLR and Maybach are all pretty low volume when it comes to V600 phones compared to the other models, and considering testing each configuration takes a few months may just not be ready yet, probably leading to the decision to release the high volume models first....
Looks like the W164 is not getting the C-class DVD COMAND in North America but a compatible NTG2.
