Wow...just about everything is an Option and not a standard. That's sad...Majority of the options that they want more money for on the new ML, is standard on vehicles priced less than MB.

I see two things relative to this. One, MB has a lot of standard engineering features, especially related to safety, that are not standard or even available on others (adaptive air bags, window curtain bags, off road ABS, front replaceable crash boxes, downhill speed regulation, belt force limiters, nano tech. paint, multi-function steering wheel, etc.). Secondly, making them optional theoretically means you don't need to pay for them unless you want them, giving buyers more choice.
That being said, yes it is also a way to keep the base price low and get more profit on the final sales price. The Asian manufacturers do seem to have fewer options.
anyone know the base msrp of the new 350? this car has a ton of options
Given the sucky exchange rate (thanks Mr. Bush) and the added content, it's bound to be a bit more than the current one, which lists at $39,175) I would bet just over $40k. Not really that bad, considering my 7-year old 320 was $34,500.
