Fuel consumption
If anyone can just inform me about the real range of consumption of new ML 350! Driving average 140 - 180 km/hour. Your real experience - no bull****!
How many km can one do with this regime with one full fuel tank!

You meant 18 miles/gallon! I see!
And in high speeds like over 160 km/hour you see that consumption or more?
thanks anyway!

ml350 consumption
hi,
as I have a Ml350 since february last and 13.000 kms made
outside town, as an average on long runs, my tipical cruise driving at +- 3000 rpm, I get figures of 7.50 kms./liter.
With a full tank I drive +- 630kms just before reserve starts to light.
A more aggressive driving as you suggest, gives me averages of 6.00 kms./liter.
From Barcelona-Spain, ciao

mpg
I just drove from San Antonio (Texas) to Houston and back. Averaged 70 + mph and got 21.3 mpg. I've had the ML350 for 90 days and odometer reads 3500 miles.

But however diesel is the future
Thanks to all the facts of consumption for the ML350. I am really astonished as it seems that an ML350 spends almost the same as an ML 320 CDI! At least from what you tell me.
I am a bit afraid though that the ML350 might spend much much more in comparison with an ML 320 CDI, at very high speeds and regimes, and it is that range that counts for me as I push hard on the pedal usually.
When I drove my VW Touareg 3.2 benzine, indeed, when i was soft and patient on the pedal, driving it like when trying to put asleep a baby, I was doing at speeds 100-120 km/hour 11litres/100 km! But as soon as I was going at 150-170 km/hour speeds I had 17litres/100 km and when I was driving it in Sgear or Tiptronic Mode reaching 200-215 km/hour I had 25-32 litres/100 km and puting all that together, which for me usually was the case I had 350-450km with a full tank of around 100 litres!!!!!!
It is in this cases perhaps that the difference betwen diesel to benzine really counts, making a diesel engine much much more convenient. And with last years diesel technology (look at Audi TDI Winner of Le Mans!!) one can have same speed, same 0-100 Km speed, same sportivity, less and less noise inside the cabine and almost half price costs!
This is my observation after all I experienced, saw, checked, etc.
Thanks however to all of you for your answers!

Overall consumption is about 15,5 Ltr/ 100 km.
Driving constantly 120 to 140 Highway- KM the consumption stays rather low with 11,5-13 Ltr/ 100 km. On German Highways with 150 - 180 km/h the consumption climbs to 15- 17 Ltr/ 100 km. Stop and Go in big Citys costs at least 17 - 18,5 Ltr/ 100 km.
Driving in the "wild pig" mode with > than 200 Km/h means 20-25 Lit/ 100km (but never > than 30 Lit as in T-Rex).
This is reality in a car with 3,5 Ltr Engine with 272 HP and 2,3 Tons weight.

I appreciate your posting!
This is what I thought too. And of course I agree that this is the normal performance of a car like this. I have nothing against it. Also in terms of expenses no one that owns this car has a problem for a couple of hundreds of Euros or Dollars every month, but what I really do not like is the short autonomy in the benzine models, sometimes I had to count carefully the distance to the next gas station in the highway, especially in Itali, as one can easily find himself out of gas if not vigilent to the Gas Station billboards. I had a feeling in this case, when driving HARD of course that the fuel-meter was moving same speed as the speed-meter!
I love the benzine engines for their prompt power, fine smooth sound, perfect sportive sound when accelerating fast, the response and everything except the short autonomy. And perhaps the constructors can not install a tank of double capacity becouse of weight issues, but that for me would be the only solutions to this "problem".
Waiting for my new 320 CDI though!
Good luck to all of you!

Does this mean that you have averaged about 7.5km/l? I hardly get 7.0-7.2 on mine, even when I drive with low rpms and try to squeeze a few extra km from the diesel. Last night I resetted the board-computer while I was doing 90km/h on the motorway and fuel consumption stayed 10.0 L/100km, which is not very impressing. The official average 10,4 km/l value is frankly bull****
They probably got this value while testing the engine on the bench.
