passenger outside mirror question

Anybody have any luck making the passenger side exterior mirror dip down when engaging reverse? Tried everything and still no luck. Its a feature that is on all the other Mercedes that I know of, as well as almost all premium cars out there.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Yep, mine works just fine. The right mirror switch needs to be engaged and while in reverse you must tilt it to where you want it the first time.

The procedure for setting it is in the manual. Note that the mirror switch has to be set to the passenger's side--this is opposite of my BMW.

I followed the advise and still it does not work. I also looked all over the manual and could not find the reference to it What page is it on? I have a 2007 model, in case the manuals are different.

Thanks.

In my 2006 manual, it's in "Controls in Detail/Activating exterior rear view mirror parking position" on page 196. Note: This is an optional feature and you may not have it. It's probably packaged with the power folding mirrors--not sure what package that's in now.

I have folding mirrors. My car has basically every option except distronic. However, someone is telling me that for 2007, they did away with that feature. Hope its not true.

Greg, I do not recall what the manual says but on mine I set it with the mirror switch on the right (Pass side) mirror and it works normally.

Followed Sosh's advise and still can't do it. My manual does not refer to this feature when talking about the mirrors.

I tried the same thing and it did not work for my 2007 model. Have you guys also notice there is no "Mono" button for the air condition? Meaning, its on dual climate all the time, although, the manual shows a mono button below the "auto" button. Looks like they messed up on the manual.

Sosh, you're right--I got it mixed up with my BMW. I have altered my previous post so as not to confuse people. I can't believe they would delete this feature, as it is very useful for parallel parking. Terrence, check the Convenience submenu of the Control system for Mirror Adjustment Parking Assist. Email me and I will send you the page from the manual.

I'm sorry to bring this one back to life, but ever since I bought my 63 back in November, the non-tliting mirror thing has bugged me. I searched the entire boards, all models, and this thread seemed like my best bet. (Hopefully MB hasnt deleted the feature from 2007's as some have stated)

I tried all of the tips listed, but nothing has worked. If I leave the passenger mirror selector on all I get is a pretty little red light, still no tilt. I went through my settings menu and there is no "Convenience" option, only "Comfort" and under that menu there isnt anything about tilting mirrors, only the option to have the outboard mirrors auto-fold on parking. I've scoured my manual back to front twice and havent found any answers.

At this point I'm getting ready to take the suv in to the dealership to make them make it work. Unfortunately, where I park is a strangely shaped street and even with the back-up camera active its tough to get nice and close to the curb without risking hitting it.

Help me out!

Try this, put the mirror switch on the pass mirror, start the car, put it in reverse, tilt the pass mirror where you would want it when in reverse, then go to drive and see if it goes to the driving position. That should work if you have it.

I believe the MONO button is only there if you buy the premium package which includes the 3-zone climate control, which is P3 I believe.

Taking it to the dealer is exactly what you should do! My friend just received his ML500 2 weeks ago (my 350 is going to be picked up this saturday ... YAY! ) and had the passenger tilt-down feature activated through STAR Diagnostics. After it is activated, you program the setting like you normally would (right mirror activated, adjust mirrors to desired position, press memory, then press down, etc...)

*Note: you will not see this feature listed under the convenience settings after it is activated through STAR.

I think you may have the wrong window switch.

Window switch that is from 2006 and older cars that share the same switch layout you have to go into the menu to activate this feature.
2007 and newer the programming is in the drivers windows. The caveat is LH or RH drive
