A couple of photos under the hood. That plastic engine shroud sure hides a lot of "stuff". Kind of makes you want to take out the pliers and screwdriver, and start taking things apart.

Agreed. I just hope the MBUSA dealers - especially mine - have some properly trained technicians.

Makes a 240D look like a true dinosaur. Even changing the air filters (especially that right one) and changing the drive belt on that looks difficult.

Imagine tracking a fuel leak or electrical wire......

Do you intend to leave the plastic shroud off and let the turbo heat dissipate quicker? Road dirt and salt will get in though.

They're not easy to see; but there are ventilation slots built into the shroud.

Those plastic tubes are right up against the turbo and did not melt? They must be something special.

2005 C240 4matic and 2007 ML320 CDI 4matic
For the 2007 ML320, Mercedes strongly recommends to keep the engine cover on because it funnels air to the turbo and keeps it cool.
