7G transmission

I know there's bunch of other threads that has dwelled on the 7G transmission jerking when downshifting. Has anybody found a solution to this problem. My R class is behaving after 13000 miles on it. The dealer has updated the software and changed the valve body without success. Any solution is welcomed.

It may just need to be re-adapted.. basically the dealer will need to hook up their SDS and perform this with it hooked up. If that is the case then when it is done, it will be MUCH better and smoother when shifting. Other than that, there are a few DTBs about some parts that may need to be replaced inside the transmission.

Transmission Woes

I took my ML500 in last week for the "A" service 12500 miles and the day I get it back it starts to jerk at low speeds. From a stop it will shift way too quickly and jerk in the process. All other gear changes are smooth. Question is did the dealer reset the computer and the trans needs to recognize my driving habits? When I got the car back I did have quit the lead foot. I have an apppointment this week so hopefully it will be resolved.

the thing that most people don't realize is that the transmissions do not store any kind of driving style or habits.

There are a few DTB's out for complaints with the transmission, but more than likely it just needs to be re-adapted. Doing this solves probably 80-90% of all shifting complaints.

Well, not the transmission, but the computer that controls it is supposed to learn your driving style and shift accordingly right? I assumed thats what needs readapting/resetting/reprogramming/etc.

I have found that if I hesitate, and lift off the throttle (suddenly) when accelerating, the 7 speed automatic transmission will jerk or tend to "hunt" for the next gear. Of course, the logical thing would be to not do this, but sometimes in traffic it is unavoidable. Frankly, for the most part, the transmission is smooth as silk.

it does not learn or store your driving style. What happens when the transmission gets re-adapted is that the computer learns the hydraulic pressure required to shift the valves in the valve body and not allow the clutches to slip too much, learns the rpms and engine load when shifted and something else that is slipping my mind at this time. Hell, I just went through this class last month, but my book is at work. I'll get it out tomorrow and post of some basic info..

Good to get the strIaight scoop from a tech--thanks. I thought it was adaptive to drving style.
