Oil Change

Oil Change
Question, has anyone observed the pump apparatus that MB uses to change the oil in their cars and SUV's. I hear they no longer drain the oil from the bottom but pump it out from the dip stick.
If you have seen this pump apparatus do you remember if MB uses a pipe feed down through the dip stick hole or a plastic tube?
I'm getting setup to do my first oil change and just trying to figure out the best method to suck the oil out of the pan.
Thanks.

I think the method with pumping the old oil out via the dip stick pipe is the best. This is what they do at all MB garages.

While I can't answer specific to your model, I can tell you that the one I use fits nicely in my G500 (M113), ML320CDI (OM642) and my daughter's KIA Sportage. I would hazard a guess that one of them will fit your E550, too.

I have one as well, it's the only way to do it...just a suggestion, I wrapped electrical tape, on the suction tube, at the point in which the dipstick would be fully seated. I also cut a small notch to prevent the extraction tube from aspirating against the oil pan.

MityVac
The MityVac comes with two different tubes to insert in the dipstick tube.

He means at the very end of the tube that gets inserted down into the pan through the dipstick. That prevents it from forming a vacuum against the pan surface if it was pressed against it at right angles. I have never experienced this, but its a good idea.
