change from MPH to km/h

I have a US '07 ML320. The speedometer has only one set of numbers on it and the mph is actually lit up from behind. This leads me to believe that maybe the same speedometer can be configured to read km/h. Anyone know if that's true? I know you can change the multifunction display to digitally give a readout in km/h, but I was wondering if the actual speedometer can be changed as well. Getting ready to drive through Canada eh and was wondering how easy a change it is.

Just change the MFD or learn your 1.6 multiplication tables.

its not possible. you will have to change it on the MFD and view the km/h on the screen and not the speedometer

Merry Christmas from Canada,

I just returned to Ontario from Myrtle Beach SC in an 08 ML320CDI. When crossing the border at 1000 Islands NY, I was able to change KM readings to Miles. The references to distance and speed on the speedometer, the odometer, the small screen on the dash directly in front of the driver, and even the GPS were all automatically changed.

again it can changed on the multifunction display; however it is impossible to change it on the round speedometer itself where the needle is

Not true. In Canada, when you change it in the MFD, the backlit km/h goes out and right above it the mph illuminates and the gauge starts operating in MPH. It is not rocket science. The Chrysler Sebring does the same thing (it was a rental car so stop laughing).

Out of curiosity, yesterday I changed KM to Miles on the MFD, and voila`, watched the speedometer dial change from KMPH to MPH. I feel much better knowing that I didn't drive 2000 miles in the US on the wrong speedometer. There are differences between the US and Canadian versions of the ML. One I believe, is the addition of the block heater on the Canadian version. We have the privilege of paying and extra $20,000+ to get the Canadian vehicle.

Mine doesn't do it either. Only the digital speedometer on the MFD changes. But I haven't taken it across the border yet so we'll see next week. It's just annoying because my '05 E changed everything, odometer, temp, everything to km/h when you changed the setting. The ML so far clearly doesn't. Just interested to see what happens when you cross into Canada if even the nav system will change.
