California Legal CDI
Of course I will drive it here in SoCal and after 6 months or 7K miles I will transfer to CA.
BTW- The most interesting way I have found is the exception to the law that states that if your vehicle is wrecked and unable to be repaired while operating it out of state, you can buy a replacement vehicle in that state. Anyone know of any big cliffs in Oregon?
I would warn the poster from NM about driving the CDI in CA. You see I did the same thing. I established residency in NM, bought the CDI in NM and brought it home to CA.
All was fine until some RAT turned me in! I got a very nice letter from the CHP telling me that I had 20 days to resolve the registration on my vehicle. (yes there is a web site for turning in folks at chp.ca.gov). Funny since the CDI was registered in NM with a NM address, but the letter came to my home in CA!
More on the saga in a few days
i'd assume leasing CDI is out of the questions unless u have residence out of state...

No, I didn't get a NM drivers license, but I did get a NM ID card, also opened a bank account, and a library card, plus I got NM insurance too!
The dealer in NM will sell you a CDI with a Calif ID but you will need a NM address.
