Bluetooth paring issues
Can anyone offer any advice on how to import contacts to the factory bluetooth with a Palm Treo pro?
Teleaid claims it's hit or miss, and could not offer any positive way to do this. Palm says it's should work, but it's up to Mercedes to support it. I am stuck in the middle.
For now all I get is the voice dial and the ability to talk hands free.
Any help would be appreciated.

To test if you are the victim of this engineering short-sightedness, try the following: Pair the phone so you can make/receive calls. The next time you get into the car, make a call to someone within a minute or so of the first time the "signal bar" ext. appears on the Command display indicating that the phone and Command have recognized each other and they are in HSP mode. Talk for at least 3 - 5 minutes. You should find that your phone book will magically appear under the icon in the "tel" mode. If you wait more than a minute or two after the initial start-up (the system times out) or don't make a call (to keep the audio channel open), it won't work. Parrot seems to have gotten Bluetooth right (and is fast becoming a first tier OEM BT supplier), but Peiker still doesn't get it.
Let me know what happens.

Guess I just have to return this Treo unless someone else has a better idea. Oh well.

What really sucks is the extra $30.00 per months I now have to pay for the data plan.

Floobydust & Vince: Thanks for all the tips.
Maybe if I had more time/expertise in the bluetooth arena, I could get better results.
My wife has the iphone, paired, and seems to work fine on her end, but when she calls me, I can't hear her worth anything, extremely faint.
Let me know. Unless anyone knows how to solve this...
By the way, my LG Dare phone (VX9700) has to be manually connected every time I get in my ML, but otherwise it works fine. If the ML bluetooth tries to automatically connect to the phone, it keeps connecting then immediately disconnecting saying the phone is "off."
After I force the connection from my phone, address book transfers, recent calls, etc. are shown and work perfectly. I had Verizon update the phone's software to the latest version 06, but still have to manually connect to the ML bluetooth system to get everything to work ok.
Signed, waiting for the Apple 3G iPhone for Verizon, rumored for later this summer.

DavidBHO, as for the sound, at 70MPH my windows are up, and the sound quality on both ends is fine. I do tend to speak a little louder than normal at that time, maybe to automatically compensate for the wind over the side mirrors. Can't think of any fix at this time.

I just replaced my 3g iPhone with a 3gs, and noticed when on the "MB Phone" screen in Bluetooth®, if you hit the arrow on the right, it takes you to another screen where you can check/uncheck "favorites" "all contacts" "recents" "sync contacts".
Voicemail now also is able to be heard over the Bluetooth® connection, whereas, VM did not work on my 3g with Bluetooth®.

The only downside to the iPhone, is AT&T's dismal coverage, so I bought a Palm Pre. Since Palm eliminated "Favorites" on the Pre, no contacts of any kind sync with the M-B Bluetooth® system. Needless to say, the Pre went back the next day. Hopefully, Verizon will get the iPhone, which should yield typically good Verizon coverage, and all the functionality of the iPhone.
