Ml 350
mirrors

Hey,
So the other day i was looking threw the manual and came across the side mirrors being able to fold on there own. Never noticed in the past the buttons for them. We have an 08 ml350 4matic, so i followed all the instructions in the manual to the tee and still nothing. Does the 350 not have that option? Any one have an idea?

Yes they can be programmed to fold in when you lock your ML and its enabled via the menu using the controls on the steering wheel and following prompts in the area between tach and speedo

They fold manually via the center button farthest forward on driver's armrest.

If you can fold them that way, they can be "programmed" to automatically fold when the engine is shut off. This via the multifunction display on dash and using buttons on steering wheel.

I believe the folding mirror is an option and included with the P2 package. I have the P1 and do not have the button between the mirror adjustment buttons to fold them under power.

Actually not when the engine is shut off but when the vehicle is locked

Talking about side mirrors. Are the defrosters turned on for teh outside mirrors when you turn on the rear window defrost?

From what I understand they are thermostatically controlled wether or not you have the rear defrost turned on.

You are incorrect. They are a great convience for the owners. Its much easier to walk between cars in a garaged and when parallel parked. It also protects the mirror to a certain extent and one can look at the vehicle from far away and confirmed that it is locked. Guess you do not have them or you would feel differently.

That is one of the stupidest responses I have seen on this board. Do you use your radio, your headlights? your a/c and heater?? Why not just take the bus because cars can break? For your information, I had folding mirrors on my 06 ML500 that auto folded for 4 years and never missed a beat. I am even surprised you own an MB with a response like that. What are you afraid of, having to spend a nickle??

I turn mine off only during the few month we have of heavy snow as I don't want the ice accumulation to possibly damage anything. The rest of the year they fold in and out every time I lock the car. Never had an issue since March 07. I also lube the tracks every now and then with silicone spray. Can't see me not having this feature in the future. Really nice touch!

Thanks, I was also wondering if i have heated mirrors on my newly acquired 2008 ML350 with only 39xxx KMS. So far love this truck and it handles and feels way different than my MDX.

Could anyone confirm if the side mirrors are heated as I couldn't find any switch for that. I believe I have P2 package as my truck is equipped with nav, backup camera, heated steering wheel (found the switch for that), auto folded mirrors, hitch, heated back seats, side rails, rain sensor wiper blades, auto dimmed inside and side mirror, powered tail gate, Bluetooth, upgraded rims, etc etc.

Thanks, Pendu
