I have had success by simply asking the service guy at my MB dealer for print offs from their DVD. Last time I asked for and received the windshield install sheets to give to my local glass installer to help with any tips and tricks. My dealer is Webers in Edm.I dont see why your dealer wont do the same for you regarding your bumper.

I'm planning to R&R the lower bumper portion of mine in the near future, so I'll offer this up in exchange for you sharing any tips you learn while you're doing yours.

Is the OEM hitch welded or bolted on?

This process was acutally easy after the service guys at MB gave me the step by step document.

Remove bumper protector
8 bolts hold the original bumper chassis
Remove
Install oem bumper which acts as e bumper.
I don't not install the wiring

Went to a local hitch vendor bought a modulite system for 159 bucks.
Cut out a perfect measurement for the hitch to pass through and didn't have to replace the bumper shell..

Saved over a thousand dollars or more

They were mandiating a new rear sam, rear bumper cover.. That alone was 1000. Then 5 hours of installation.

So total cost was
850 hitch
Modulite 159
Install 100

Save a thousand dollars or more.. Didn't

'09 ML320 Hitch
Hello,

Where did you get the OEM hitch?

I need to put one on my '09 ML320 BT with ADS (Air Suspension).

Did you need to replace the rear metal valance as it looks like the hitch has to come through it.

Thanks,
Ray

Check out www.ecstuning.com I just found them online. Great website. Just ordered OEM trailer hitch kit from them for our 2009 ML320 Bluetec.

I installed an OEM hitch without OEM hitch module on a 2009 ML320 that I had. Could not tow up to full rating because transmission did not know that a trailer was connected and would go into limp mode thinking it was being over loaded. Highly recommend the OEM towing module as well if you are planning on towing anything of any weight.

Here's a link to beefing up the towbar as well, which I also did.
