You must have had a water leak. Did you and what was the color of the wire?

Did you change the seals to the tail lights? If not, that is the source of the leak.

yes, I did have a small water leak on the pump. Not sure if you mean the color of the only two wires (+ and -) coming off the pump or the Corrosion on the wires which I think was green & white. I cleaned up and it went up and down for 2 weeks.

The color of the wire that broke.

Did you find the source of the leak?

The source of the leak is faulty tail light seals.

2007 ml350 tailgate

The leak is not the problem. It was a leaking ice chest. The wire is not the problem, I put it back on and it worked for two weeks. I want to know if there is a way to reset or ajust the tailgate so it works properly.

Are you saying that one wire broke or the two wire connector to the pump was disconnected?

I cannot believe that a water leak would cause either one, unless the wire was corroded.

If any of the wires or connector looked like the below, then you have a connectivity problem.

Please take photos of your wire repair and make it so that I can identify with them.

2007 Tailgate

As I stated a wire was corroded and I cleaned it up and reattached both wies to a new connector and it worked for 2 weeks but did not latch. The actuator does sound like it is trying to latch but when the tailgate is in the up position. I want to know if there is a way to reset or ajust the tailgate so it works properly.

I am well aware of what you said and repeating it is not going to help.

If you cannot provide a photo of the repair and the condition of the wire, which you are not even sure of the color, I cannot help you further.

I really am not trying to be difficult but I don't have a picture of the corrosion because I cleaned it up and reattached the only 2 wires that connect directly to the pump. I believe they are positive and negative and I reattached them correctly. I just don't understand why you are dwelling on the corrosion. I am asking again is there a way to adjust or reset the motor and pump so they work correctly because you haven't previously answered. I do appreciate your help I am sorry if you feel I am being difficult.

When corrosion occurs at a wire or connector cleaning the tip of the wire will not stop the corrosion, It will continue to travel up the wire to its heart content and little or no connectivity will occur.
