2007 ML63 AMG W164 Engine Tapping sound
Hi I've have a ML63 AMG W164 2007 with 90,000miles. Full MB Service History... Ive had this problem for a while, this problem occurred when I had a leaking injector and camshaft sensor failed, petrol was dumped into oil, that all been sorted now but since then I started it and I now hear a tapping sound from engine it gets louder and faster when I accelerate. I've search few places saying it could be the lifters, camshafts but also got told it could be a bent rod. Can someone please help me..

I started it again tonight, puffing white smoke out of exhaust and cover whole estate with smoke the tapping has stopped after a drive last night. And it's used 6litres of oil

Kieran, if the eng. is blowing thick white smoke, you need professional help. It is an indication that a cylinder head is cracked or the head gasket is faulty, which means that the eng. is burning coolant along with fuel.
And they will tell you that your eng. must be replaced.
AMG are the hardest engines to work on.

The smoke clears after the cars been on idle for about 5mins the car has never over heated in its life I've had it since new from Mercedes, the coolant stays between 80-100⁰c and oil is between 90-110⁰c

Kieran, when the whole estate is covered with white smoke, this is an example of a major problem.
Possibilities are a significant leak of oil or coolant.

I also have no indicators, wipers, no interior lights when doors open, and dosent lock or unlock and air suspension, and boot does not open and fuel gauge dosent read, in the passed I have changed front and rear sam due to condensation. I hope the rear sam dosent need changing again. But on the Maxisys MS908 pro Diagnostic machine its saying rear sam not sending any data all wires are plugged in I took it apart and no corrosion, I kept it inside for 1 night to get room temp and still does not work.

These other things that are not working are the least of your problems. The engine problem must be addressed first.
Did you replace the tail lamp seals when the rear SAM was replaced?

I'm going to sell car how it is as the engines they want are over £12k and I do have someone who will fit it but cant find cheap one
