Mercedes W164 ML63 Fuel pump issue

Greeting everyone from a sunny, hot Johannesburg SA... Relatively new to the forum and looking forward to reading and learning a lot on here.

So my first issue on my W164 ML63 came up this weekend. My fuel pump needs to be replaced and the technician told me that the ML63 and the ML500 use the same pump.
Could this be true? I searched online and see they have different part numbers, that being said, they are both V8's of the same series...

Could this be the case? Id appreciate any help thrown my way as these are scarce as hens teeth is South Africa

Model: W164 ML63
Year: 2010
VIN: WDC1641772A567750

Thanks,
Nkuli

According to your vin#, the fuel pump and filter DO NOT have the same part numbers of a 500.

Thanks,

I suggest you also replace the fuel filter on the driver's side. Mostly you would need to access the filter to release the pump hoses. Also, highly recommend you replace the locking rings + O-rings and use high quality sealants for the lids. Trust me, you don't wanna go through all of this only to smell fuel when you first start the car.
Also, recommend replacing the fuel injectors if they hadn't been replaced, as they have a tendency to leak on the M156 engine causing hydrolock.

BTW, this is the non-AMG W164 ML forum.
This is the correct forum:

Good luck,

Thank you so much fir the advice. yeah, managed to source a fuel filter from the dealers, will also look into the O rings.
Injectors are definitely on the cards as Ive heard horror stories. Just need need to check on the cylinder head bolts and if my motor was affected.
I'm sure they are, so that's also on the cards.
