Ordering BlueTec Options Confusion!

Can Leather Seats be ordered without perforations. I really want the Auburn Brown Seats but don't want perforated leather for sand and dirt to get stuck in. The car is going to be used on a beach a lot.

What is the purpose of the perforations if not ordering (401) Heated / ventilated front seats

The price is listed as $250 for (401) seats in some guides and $570 in others

Same thing with the (282) 2nd Seat row pass through. $160 in one guide, $250 in another.

Running Boards (846) are listed as (Stainless steel running boards) in the ordering guide and Brushed Aluminum on MBUSA website.

Finally, how can Canada be paying $2,500 (Canadian mind you) for the Active suspension and we are paying $5,150 US for the same thing

SPORT PACKAGE $2,500.00
  • AMG 20" 5-spoke alloy wheels
  • Adaptive Damping System (ADS)
  • AIRMATIC air suspension

The marketing genius that took away standard AMG body styling that Canada Gets should be shot! and then Hung!

Canada's sport package does not include the Active Curve System; it is just AIRMATIC ($1,610 US I believe).

Actually, its the other way around - Canada fought for AMG styling standard (without AMG wheels); MBUSA didn't want it.

Some like the perf - looks a little classier. If you are going to the beach a lot you should stick with MBTex, though you can't get that in the brown.

The option prices are $570 and $160, respectively, but there is a one-time $250 Special Request Order charge when ordering any number of these options.

They're aluminum.

Agree. They didn't make it available in the US on the 350 for the W166 either.

What is the option code to order Airmatic? It can only be had as part of the Dynamic Handling Package. Where did you get the $1,610 price? Canada's package includes Airmatic and ADS with beautiful 20" AMG wheels. That's my point. I wish It could be ordered separately without the Active Roll bars and ugly wheels.

Who didn't want it? I sure do. I like the looks but want a diesel. Why do they have to make me get into a 550. I think they could have sold so many more cars if they weren't such snobs.

And some don't! I don't want the sticky vinyl. Plus it smells horrible after sitting in the sun all day. Whats the point of perforated seats if you are not getting ventilated sets. . Looks like Designo is the only way to get normal leather without the holes.

Thats a given when you are ordering brown.

If you order leather without the ventilated seats then the seats will be smooth with no holes. If you order the ventilated seats then you get the holes in the seat so the seat cooler can do its thing.

I know what it says; it's an error. The ordering guide came out in back in June; there are inevitible errors early on. The website lists them as aluminum, which I have verified in person.

MBTex does not smell and is much better than the vinyl you may be familiar with. If you're willing to go with black, the Sport Interior with Dynamica (faux suede) inserts is very comfortable hot or cold (I have the '06 MBTex/Alcantara version - still looks like new after 60k+ miles, and no smell when hot). Together with the optional stitched MBTex dash (not is this photo) it would be very sharp.
