2013 ML550: Paladium Silver, Brown Satin Ash
My SA (MB sales adviser) has given me a purchase order number for my MY13 ML550 order and a build date of July 20, 2012. They say they can't print out the P.O. to PDF since things are all priced yet, they can only send me screen shots of the order system.
I've attached the screenshot as a PDF (with certain info removed just out of paranoia). In the middle is the error message that popped up when the tried to add the the multi-contour seats (399):
I need to ask them, though, how I have a July 20 build date with the error message says the seats aren't available until August 1. And the whole reason they say I'm not getting a June build is because I'm holding out for those special seats. Endless mysteries with MB, that's for sure, and my SA is usually clueless.
UPDATE: My SA assistant confirmed they made 'a mistake.' Given that I want the multi-contour seats, my ML550 will not be build until some time in August. Further, they can't yet enter an order for the August build, so they can't generate a P.O. right now. They think maybe in a couple weeks the order bank will open up. Meanwhile, they say they have a couple other customer also in line, with me currently first.
So, do I let them hold my $2k deposit, or tell them to forget it for now and call me in a couple weeks when they can order it?

Sorry, I forgot to explain that they say the reason I'm not getting a June build is because I'm holding out for those mullti-contour seats. (I just updated my post accordingly).
My point is, why then a July 20 build date, when that alert says they seats are available until Aug 1, and my SA knows I want to hold out for those seats. I'll ask today and I see what they say.
I actually think they are pulling my chain. So, we'll see.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Dealers still have a lot of 2012 m-class inventory arriving. I imagine they don't want too many people distracted by MY13 at this point. Also, pricing is not set yet for MY13. An SA said that will not happen until the first MY13 begins to roll off the line.

So I see a 'Cinnabar Red' possibility for the 13 ML550's. I currently own a 'Barrolo Red'. Can anyone give a comparison between the two? I think they are both in the 'maroon' category, but have not been able to find a Cinnabar sample in any of the dealers I have visited.

Ur kidding. Google cinnabar nowhere ever close to maroon. In a thread about mtlc paint I quote a factory assembler who says it more CANDY red. Hope this helps. A bunch have been made for testing he figured. Cool if Velociraptor could post a photo. Dealer just got the new 2012 paints LOL

Dude. The guy builds them its more like Candy. Google man nothing like maroon. Got it now that's not a photo its a drawing or graphic rendering :-)

Maybe so, dougiebear. So where do you think they got that 'artists rendering'? the salesman I talked to was uncertain also, but there is already a candy red in the portfolio (Mars red).

The guy builds them buddy. UR mind is locked in. U asked we told U. Mars I think is non metalic. I did look :-)and they nade it like all non photos. Photos never show colors well like dakota/citrine its great but even MB photos show it ugly and light. Fact is "not the same hue as BMWs cinnabar" "looks more candy to me" so its not going to be maroon but I think it will be deeper red which I think is great. Buddy I'm on your side u asked a ? I gave u the best answer u will get for now. Unless an other MBUSI person says different. Enjoy hope its dark enough for you.

I'm sure your friend (by the way am 'assuming' he has actually seen Cinnabar red) who builds them is far more knowledgeable than I am. I just think that it would be a first for MB, putting a 'candy red' color on one of their larger vehicles. Wasn't even aware that BMW had a cinnabar red. Just saying the last red in the ML line (Barolo) was maroon-ish. Given their heavy sales of grey/white/black, and their complete elimination of a red option for the ML for the past several years, I find it unlikely that they would go to something quite so risky as a candy red. Will look forward to actually seeing it and making our own decisions. the order guides in pdf format on the web show a red, but its hard to make out whether it is lighter/darker/redder/browner whatever. Look forward to actually seeing it in person.

According the GL dealer ordering guide (attached), they're charging $3,950 for Active Curve system. So, likely somewhere around there.
Unfortunately, the MY13 ordering guide for the ML does not even mention it. However, my SA says they can order it for the ML MY13, but will not know the price for awhile.

She uses the example of time, usually. When asked when you will leave for something and you say 'in a bit' what exactly does that mean? She thinks it means one thing (seconds), I think it means another (minutes).
So when you said 'candy red' in my head I saw a light, bright red, similar to the mars red. The miscommunication was defining 'candy red'. When I googled 'Mercedes and candy red' the colors I got back were like the attached pic, nowhere near as dark as that video. That video looks VERY similar to my existing Barolo red, which I would never describe as 'candy'. Guess it depends on your idea of what 'candy red' is. Wikipedia shows what they think it is, check it out.
