Dealers disagree!

I am about to place an order, but I have two dealers who are telling me different stories about the car I plan to purchase. I would prefer to buy from the bloke who tells the truth. Can someone help me.

1. Is the fuel tank of the ML350BlueTec 70L (as advised in the catalogue) or 93L (as advised in the specification list)?

2. Is the windscreen infra red reflective (heat resistant) ? This was an option on the W164 which came with the dark privacy glass.

1. 93 liters (24.6 US gallons)
2. The metallic-coated windshield is not standard or an option in North America, and I do not believe it is in your market, either. It's easy to tell if it has one by the reflectivity.

Thanks for that Greg, but where do they fit the AdBlue tank now?

It's at the rear, to the right of the muffler.

Careful. There are two fuel tank options for the diesel ML. North America takes the 93L as standard, but in Europe the 70L is standard on the 350 BlueTEC. I believe Australia follows the European configurations.

Code 915 is the optional 93L tank for Europe.

Thanks - why would there be a smaller tank available, though? Can't see any benefit unless the extra space was usable for something. I thought it was maybe only on the 250 BlueTEC. To further confuse things, this document states the tank size as 27.7 gallons, which we know is wrong (even in UK gallons): https://mbworld.org/forums/4939112-post1.html.

In Europe, emissions and fuel economy testing is done with a full tank of fuel. The smaller the tank, the less weight and therefore fewer emissions and better mileage.

This is why the larger tank is optional (and, as you can imagine, has a very high take rate).

Now I am really confused

Has anyone bought a ML350Bluetec in Australia and had to refill the tank from empty yet?
