ML Built 5/30 - Still at VPC!

My ML Bluetec was finally built on 5/30 (ordered 11/7/11), but as of today (6/8, it is still sitting at the VPC. I am assuming they are waiting for something, although I can't be sure what. Has anyone else had this experience? Is my SA misleading me (I doubt it). Any ideas of what may be holding it up that can be installed at the VPC? I hope it is not the HID's they are waiting for!

Sometimes vehicles need small repairs (e.g. got a scratched rim, etc.), is my only thought.

It hasnt been waiting long.
They may not have a truck heading your way yet that they can fill.

They are charging the flux capacitor.

That's right - I had forgotten that. I had heard that before. Maybe they tested the Distronic coming off the line and rear-ended the vehicle in front!

As of 6/11, it was released to carrier. Dealer should have it in a few days, but of course, I am on vacation! Hopefully some photos next week.

Isn't that always the way. Mine gets built just before my vacation and arrives a month plus later.

Got mine today

It took 14 days from the time it was released to the carrier until it was unloaded at the dealer near Philadelphia.

It was at least 2 weeks late based on it position for production.

Just returned from vacation today - was in communication with the dealer while away. ML arrived, and I will be picking it up Monday (6/18) evening. SA says he hasn't seen one optioned like this and that it looks gorgeous (Palladium, Black Sport Interior, Satin Ash, MB-Tex dash). Sorta a drag hearing from the dealer that the truck you've been waiting months for looks good and you can't get to see it yourself!! Be prepared Greg!!

I know - mine just shipped, so will probably be here around July 4. Won't be able to pick it up until at least 7/18. May make coming back from Spain more bearable though. Enjoy yours and post some pics.

Picked up the ML (finally) earlier this week, then promptly left town for a few days (with the ML parked at the airport). Had some time today to get it all configured and drove a few miles. Great vehicle! While one of the delays was the Lighting package, it was definitely worth the wait - the drive home last night from the airport was the best lit drive I have experienced - the adaptive high beams are remarkable.

Glad you finally got your new ride, twodivers. You waited a long time but I'm sure it was worth getting just what you wanted. I was not very particular as to options as I never owned a M-B before and just wanted the experience for a few years. Then, my idea is to trade for something with all the bells and whistles. Accordingly, I did not want to order anything because of all the delays I read about.

I told the sales associate to find me a car somewhere on the assembly line that was diamond white with almond/beige interior (made no difference if it was leather or MB-Tex), package 2 because I wanted the stereo upgrade and the adaptive lighting package. Other than that, I could be flexible on everything else. He found one just like that coming off the assembly line a month ago that was going to a Boston dealer but he traded invoices with that dealer for one of his on-line cars and the car I wanted was rerouted to Texas. It had a couple things I did not want such as wheel locks and a heated steering wheel but those things were insignificant. I'm glad I did not compromise on the color (which is stunning) and the Xenon lighting package. WOW! I agree, those lights are bright and I love how fully automatic they are. Here where I live in deer country and where there are no street lights for miles, it is a Godsend!

My dealer said it can take as long as 4 to 8 weeks to get your ML after its built.

Thanks, shortspark. Sounds like you have a sweet one yourself. The lights are remarkable, and the P2 makes things comfortable! Enjoy.
