To Tint, or not to Tint my brand new 2012 ML?

So wanted to get some feedback from other ML owners. I'm going to say on just about all my previous cars on trucks I've tinted the windows. With all the cars and trucks ive owned, the only vehicle that never got tinted was my Porsche Cayenne, just never got around to it. But had both 20% tint on my GLK's 2 front windows and the other ML that I just gave back. I did 20% on the front ones to match the rest of the trucks dark windows. But after getting this ML last week I'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger, was thinking maybe 35%, but then all the windows won't match. Kind of just undecided! What's everyone's take on this?

Tinting the front sides completes the look IMO, even if it's just 35%.

Ive never tinted, but 35% wouldn't be bad. Probably legal, too, unlike 20% in most states.

I have to agree! Probably going to just with 35% on the front windows just to get rid of that fishbowl effect from there being nothing. 20% looks pretty good, but it basically blacks out the windows and screams look at me on a white truck. The kind of look at me that grabs the attn of the NYPD's ticket book...lol!

LOL. Which borough are you in? I used to live in the LES a few years ago.

I have 35% on mine.

In NY ( I'm in NY too) any tint past the way it comes will subject you to a ticket for being ilegal. With that said, I am tinting with a film to block the IR and suns heat on all windows. It's more than just a color issue as it will provide protection and heat rejection. The dark rear windows from factory won't do that by themselves.

I'm in Brooklyn, but do a great deal of driving through Manhattan, Staten Island, and Queens. Honestly, Staten Island and Queens are the worste when it comes to having tint on your windows. Cops will bust chops daily, especially with tint as dark as 20%. Yea I think I'm going to roll with 35% and call it a day. Even though I had 20% on my previous ML, and did like it, driving at night my truck looked like a storm trooper. Just going to go lighter this time around I think. We'll see Thursday when I go get it done, I do have a habit of changing my mind...lol

I have my tinted 35% (legal in FL) on the front and 3m Crystalline (70% tint) on the windshield. The front tint reduces heat a lot and helps the front windows match a little better while still being legal. Can't really tell that the front is tinted either

My guy wouldn't do the windshield because of the camera and stuff. I have it on my other cars and really miss it on the ML.

Mine was 2pc and same level as the camera cover. Didn't obstruct the camera and any other sensors.

I put on light to medium tint on the side front windows to block some sun and heat. Pics in gallery.
