Cool brake feature I didn't know about

I guess I should read the manual but it only took me 5000 miles to accidentally stumble upon the brake hold feature. You just push the brake pedal down and hold it until the light appears. Push the gas or brake again to turn it off. It's really handy in traffic and at long stop lights.

Your tire pressure is too high.

Door pillar sticker says 45 front. 48 rear cold. They naturally increase with heat from friction.

And what tire air pressure does your gas cap door say? That is the one you want to go by, not the pillar readings which may be for full loads, not normal driving conditions.

Go by the sticker on the indies of the wheel. That's the ONLY pressure you should run.

I still have not heard of a definitive answer from MBUSA.

Currently running with 35's in the front and 37's in the back.

Its a good compromise between "soft ride" and "fuel economy."

Obviously the first two labels refer to maximum inflation pressures, whilst the third is for recommended pressures.

Almost feels like 2 different topics here. The brake hold feature is nice on a hill at a light. Even w/o activating it, still feels like it holds the brakes for a split second while moving from the brake to the gas pedal.

The dealer had my tires at 42psi. I dropped them down to 35-36 cold pressure.

Back on topic, I like the hold feature but I find it difficult to consistently enable it. I come to a stop, depress the brake further, and maybe 1 in 5 times it will go to "hold". I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong the other 4 times.

I have the same problem when I got my car, can't get the HOLD to engage consistently. After a day or two, I learned that after a full stop, by releasing the brake pedal a bit (just a bit that the brake is still engage) and press it again to activate HOLD, works 100% all the time for me. You have to learn what works for you.

I will have to try it.

I did not know you can actually get a readout of the individual tire pressure too...

That works for me, too. To divert back to the second topic, I agree the fuel filler door pressures are the ones to use, but noticed mine differ from 300DTubo's (I do have 20s):

Very interesting - seems the boys at MB really do think about these things! Just a few psi must make a difference.
