Keyless-Go does not like the Cold weather

Since the beginning of winter, Keyless-Go stops functioning when temperature drops below -10°C degrees (14°F). I suspect the receivers in the doors are neutralized under colder temperature because all doors experience the same symptoms. Also, under such cold temperature, about 50% of the time, the computer stops recognizing the key code which requires inserting the key fob in the key hole to start the car. The key fob is always warm inside my coat. The dealer needs to reproduce the event before acting. I have never experienced such failure with the W164 or the E-Class. The same system functions flawlessly under the same cold temperature on my C-350.

I'm experiencing the same for the doors. When it's really cold, it won't unlock by just touching the inner part of the handle but it always unlock if I pull the handle.

I haven't experience the starting issue. Mine always start with the push of the button. I hope it stays that way.

We have had some true winter weather in central Ontario and e have had no keyless go issues. I notice when I am spraying the vehicle at the car wash, the water actually activates the door locks (lock & unlock). To avoid this, I leave the engine running. Ours is programmed to unlock all doors at once.

You do not need to leave the car running - just leave the remote in the car. It won't lock.

You're right. On Friday we will be around freezing point. Keyless-Go will be up and running again. Dealer won't be able to replicate the fault this year because milder temperature is on the way.

surprising the tech spaces rate this well within operational temps.

I think they are simply defective sensors coming from bad batch. I will have to wait for the next drop in temperature to reproduce the fault at the dealer.

jean7of9 I think you are right by saying we could have a defective batch. I've had a few issues with mine just simply not unlocking the vehicle when I touch the door handle, and also saying "key not detected" when I try to start the vehicle, even though the key is in my pocket or sitting in the centre console. It's got nothing to do with cold weather here because it's summer time. It will be interesting to see what happens in a few months when winter arrives.
AS705 yes mine does this too when I'm washing it. I now leave the key inside the vehicle to prevent this, just as YYZ-E55 suggested
