Help me to choose guys
This is my first post on this forum
, I was a serious Bimmer fans. Nowadays, I am thinking to trade in my 2012 x6 to the 2014 ml63 amg. I have done the test drive of it, and was satisfied by the performance of it.
However, I can not decide which one shall I take between Ml 63 and E63. 2014, both of them will be awd. I live in Toronto Canada, so based on the reliability and daily comfort issues, which one shall I take?
I will use the car as dd. Thanks a lot.
Any opinion will be kindly accepted.
I found the ML more comfortable and quieter driving than the E (vs my parent's E550 sport, at least).
I haven't been to Toronto in a few years, but the commute traffic up there is as bad as most major metros, and I find that the higher vantage point of an SUV makes being stuck in traffic just a little more bearable.
You don't get much terribly deep snow, but during those few storms, a little extra ground clearance is nice to have (vs worrying about taking the front of your bumper out on some hardpack or ice).
And...a trailer hitch can come in handy...when you need to bring some supplies up to the cottage...
Either way - you've got two fantastic choices, and whatever decision you make is going to be a great driver...enjoy...

So that you can get even more confused, have you considered the E63S Estate? Very exclusive, very utilitarian and although I have not been in a MY14, all indication is that it is really awesome with the addition of the 4Matic. If you order one, there is the added benefit that I think you will be able to get one this year but delivery time may be questionable for E63 sedan. I am in the process of ordering E63S Estate to change from our E350 Estate. Our current Estate is our 4th one. We love it! It's much easier to put things on the roof compared to the ML and the emergency jump seats get used more often than we ever think it would. Drives like a luxury sedan should with all the benefits of a wagon.
We also have had an ML and about to take delivery on a Bluetec. We will use the ML to tow a couple of jet skis and the occasional small trailer. We also cycle quite a bit and enjoy the ability to attach a hitch mounted platform bike rack. We have the MB Bike racks that attach to the basic carrier on our wagon. I have attempted to load our bikes on the wagon by myself and I always think it is too difficult to do alone, even with a very light road bike. No such problems when using the hitch mounted rack!
I'm sure I just confused you more but isn't the process of choosing the car you want to drive part of the fun? Good luck!

Thanks. I saw you have the ml63, how is the reliability so far?
As I was reading the forums to make my decision, it looked like most of the ML issues were with older platforms or the 2012 (first year for the 166). One of my co-workers has a 2012 ML350 BlueTec and has had no issues in 15k miles.
I've only just brought mine in for service today for the first time for two minor issues.
1. seat cushion material was a little puckered in one corner. 2. very minor hum from the rear at around 32 mph.
I'm guessing that that the seat cover was either not sewn well or not installed well and will be an easy fix. The hum appears to just be a bad tire.
My first impression of the ML during several test drives was that it was easy to drive, quiet and comfortable.
That has not changed since mine came in. As a daily driver, I love it! It rides very smoothly (at least on the standard spring suspension - I have a diesel and could not get the adjustable suspension).
I actually have found myself finding reasons to drive it and taking backroads around the SF Bay Area just to chill out in it a bit.
I was really reminded today just how nice it is to drive, as I had the loaner C-Class Sport on this morning's drive and could barely tolerate the C'a rough ride and road and engine noise.
The ML is also extremely quiet for an SUV - very little wind or road noise in the cabin, so long drives are not fatiguing.
We took two friends to a party about about 2 hours east of us recently, and both commented how comfortable the ride was. My wife even sat with in the back to chat with her friend, and commented that it was just as comfortable as the front seat. After driving 2 hours, partying outside in 90 degree heat for 7 hours, stopping to shop at the outlets on the way back, and driving 2 hours back, we all felt rested and had no road fatigue. So we all went out for dinner at 10pm...in the past, I would have left the party earlier, gotten home as soon as possible and just called it a day without going out to dinner...probably would not have let them stop to shop either...;-)
