Park Assist
Have anyone tried this option yet? I drove around looking for a spot to parallel park but it seems everyone is scared to parallel park here lol. Is there certain time I have to wait? I had a chance once ; the P was point to the right and I selected OK to parallel and I slowly lifted my foot off the brake but it just kept going straight. What am I missing?

That's actually the first video I watched but I'm still puzzled and I read the manual. Maybe I'll have some fun at work tomorrow and ask couple soldiers to help me out lol.

You must have your signal light active to the side you wish yo park as well as select "ok" on the steering wheel when cued for confirmation

Did that too and I was kind of embarrassed because people were probably thinking I can't drive. I'll give another try later. It's not that I can't park, I want to use it at least once since I paid for it lol.

The car will steer itself but you control the brake and gear selection. It will, however, tell you when to change gears if it needs to "wiggle" forward and back in the space.

The car didn't go forward, I said it kept going straight as in reverse. Isn't parallel parking means passing the space slightly you want to park in to and back in? I didn't just leave in drive. It asked me if I wanted to use the option and I clicked okay and popped it in reverse but it kept going straight passed the car behind me. I'll try it again today.

Oh, sorry, I misread that as straight ahead.
Glad you got it working. They can send software patches over the air via mbrace so if there was a software fix for your problem, that's probably what happened.

I used it for the first time this afternoon. I was interesting, albeit a little disconcerting to not have my hands on the steering wheel. I think I'm a better and more efficient parallel parker, but I could see it helping some folks.
It was funny to see the expression on a woman across the street as she saw that my hands were not on the wheel....

I was telling my wife the same thing! I find it inaccurate because I was about a foot away from the curb. I was always taught to be at least to be six inches away.

My wife and I used tried it for the first time today in front of our house. It parked us about 6" from the curb, both front and back. My wife says its kind of embarrasing that the car can park better than us...lol

Yeah it's pretty good at parking itself, it turns the wheel faster then I can turn it so it's hooks in a lot better.
I personally think it's a great feature. Just get the braking and speed right and you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

If the car you're parking behind is parked very close to the curb, it's possible for the system to bump the curb with your wheels, since it's trying to line up with the other cars that are already parked. Usually it's easy to see when it's going to happen, and it comes at the end of the parking maneuver when it's simple to take control yourself and adjust the move.
I've had it on both of my ML's, and I wouldn't want to be without it again.

I live in the city (SF), and just yesterday I had to fit quickly into a tight spot, with traffic coming and some pedestrian onlookers (probably assuming I wouldn't make it). The system got me in there pronto, and at least as well as I could have done it myself (I consider myself a pretty good parker). As always, YMMV.

How much space did you have both front and back? I reside in El Paso, TX and not a lot if people like to parallel park and if they do, they leave a car and a half length. It took me almost half a tank driving around the city, LOL, looking to fit my ride. I even tried doing it with my other car and a trash can but it wouldn't recognize it. When I had the chance it took like 3-5 seconds to start maneuvering. I hope it does it faster when I get the next opportunity in a congested area.

Wow, that is impressive. Unfortunately we don't have mbrace over the pond though ... cheers
