Congratulations. I have a 13' ML550 and love it. We have a mostly identical build except I got the designo interior and don't have the lighted running boards... You're the only other person I've seen with the on/off road package, I think we're pretty rare birds. I've had a few quality issues but overall I love the truck, good luck with it.

The Designo interior was in the same boat with the Bang & Olufson System. They were features I couldn't quite bite down on. Having been around off road vehicles most of my life, I liked the added control the on/off road package gives me. I was lucky with my 350BT on the quality issues. My dealer got the few issues worked out in effective order. Also on the on/off road package, my dealer has only sold it two other times over the last few years. the bigger engine is really fun.

The V8 is staying in the 2015 according to the MY15 Dealer Ordering Guide. The name is changing to the ML400 as a marketing strategy, but no new engine was announced and it states:
Intention of the MY15 ML400 package strategy:
- Create greater customer value with the V8 model at a lower price point
- Use the ML400 as an answer for cross-shoppers to the new X5 strategy without
altering the ML350
- Package the ML400 with typically equipped options to make ordering and
swapping easy for dealers

Congrats on the new ride, and awesome options.. Not to be negative, but I think you should have gotten more than $2,500 off msrp.

The turbo 3.0 V6 will find its way into the ML350 as it is also the engine in the upcoming 2015 C350. For now, the V8 will remain in the ML400.

Sure... discussion with my dealer and the regional rep. My statements are based on what they have told me, but MBUSA can always change direction.

Thanks CM. It is going to be interesting to see how Mercedes is going to make up for it on the CAFE requirements, which reaches fruition in 2016. From what I read on the requirements, an auto maker's entire fleet is supposed to have reached a specific fuel economy average, I think around 37 or 38 mpg. If Mercedes has been able to reach that level on other portions of their fleet that would give the ML some breathing room. But then again, the 2015 MLs could be that one last year. We shall see.

Mike,
Let me get some miles on it first. I have to get some finishing touches done on a 2012 Toyota Tacoma that is supercharged and lifted.
gverntz361,
Nice build. I do enjoy seeing how everyone has their way of personalizing their ML.

Lots of ml 550 love here on the forums lately.
I have polar white with black sports interior with nappa leather. Almost looks like the AMG interior with all the white stitching everywhere and on the dash.
No off road package for me with 22 AMG replica wheels. But the airmatic suspension that lowers is fun. Cooling cup holders are nice too. Engine is the best part along with the sport package.
Put the AMG side skirts on too.
B&O probably not worth it. I had it on my 2012 a6. There the base stereo was pretty bad so with a lease increase of about $90/ month it was worth it to me. The HK stereo is so good for the price. b&o is not $6000 better.
B&o has better highs and clarity but worse bass then the HK stereo
